Identification Help: Durene Football Jersey

I'm assuming this is one of those Southland "throwbacks" from the recent past. Did the Eagles ever wear this style? What team does it represent?

I would need to research, but thinking off the top of my head, I am not aware of the Eagles wearing this exact style dating back to the late 1940s.
- During the 1950s, the Eagles white jerseys had two thin sleeve stripes and eventually added small sleeve numbers to this style (refer to the famous photo of Chuck Bednarik standing over Frank Gifford or Steve van Buren for examples of this style). The green jerseys during this era had no stripes (1960 championship game is a good example).
- In the early 1960s, they switched to the 3-stripe "Northwestern" sleeve stripes on both jerseys, but this style was very short lived.
- Around the mid-1960s, they wore a style with the shoulder inserts, but those jerseys also had two sleeve stripes (Timmy Brown era).
- By 1970, they were wearing jerseys with no stripes for several years (Bill Bradley).
- They switched to the wild, multi-stripe design in the first part of the 1970s and wore those until the mid-1980s (Harold Carmichael, Super Bowl, etc.).
- The next style saw the Eagles once again remove the sleeve stripes, but they added the eagle logo to the sleeves (Reggie White, Randall Cunningham, etc.).
- In 1996, they switched to their current color scheme (the white jerseys in '96 had an awkward-looking green sleeve stripe that was removed by the following season).

I would need to do a bit of research to give you exact years, and perhaps Jim or some of the Eagles collectors can be more precise with the dates and other details.

Good find.... There are a couple of eBay sellers with ties to movie warehouses that are currently selling off tons of movie-worn baseball and football jerseys. It was from one of those sellers that I purchased the Tony Canadeo Packers jersey used in the NFL Evolution commercial:

One thing I have noticed is that these sellers don't always know the history of the jerseys they are selling. Many of these shirts (especially the older ones) were found inside these movie warehouses with no records to go with them... They could have been used in a TV commercial, made-for-TV movie, TV show, theatrical release, or who knows what else.... Anyone who has the time and skill to do some research on these shirts might find a hidden gem.

Sadly, I can also see many of these jerseys causing confusion to collectors as their movie warehouse connections are lost. Many of these football and baseball jerseys have professional numbering/lettering, but retail tagging. Others are top-quality reproductions of vintage jerseys, but with modern tagging. The list goes on.

BTW, I'm skeptical about The Express. None of the other jerseys from that movie have a Goodman tag, and, as far as I can tell, Syracuse did not play a team with green and white colors.

We Are Marshall seems more likely to me, even though this cap shows a green collar and tv numbers. Sorry I can't pin it down definitively to a particular movie.

Thanks Mark, Anthony and Brian for the thoughtful replies! Yes, Brian, I am somewhat doubtful that it is a movie jersey (although It was found here in Los Angeles). I'm thinking it is a Southland "throwback". Still researching which Eagles styles were made by Southland. Thanks again, fellas.

You could certainly make the case that this is a Philly jersey honoring the greatest Eagle of all -- Hall of Famer Steve Van Buren. While Van Buren never wore a style quite like the jersey in question, it's close enough to satisfy most people. If Southland were to do a very limited run of these shirts, it probably wouldn't be worth their time and effort to perfect the numeral fonts and sleeve stripes.... It would make sense that they use numbers and jerseys already in their inventory.

In addition to the ebay link I posted earlier, here's another identical jersey also sold as movie-worn. I really do think it was made for a move. I just don't know which one.

Anthony makes some good points about movie jerseys potentially being confused with game jerseys because of a lack of paperwork. I'm tempted to buy up some examples of the movie jerseys for future reference.
