Torii Hunter asked his new teammate Rick Porcello is he could buy his number from him. It happens quite often when a top tier player signs with a new team and wants his usual digits. Porcello told him No.
Instead of taking the reportedly large sum of money as most other players do, he instead asked Hunter to donate the sum to help New Jersey overcome Hurricane Sandy. Porcello, a NJ native knows people who were affected. Porcello took nothing else.
I myself lost power for 14 straight days. I shivered in the dark with my mom using only our fireplace for heat. I cursed mother nature and hope LIPA loses it's NY contract and the CEO is forced to live in a cave with only sticks and a lighter for a month. But my new favorite pitcher in MLB is Rick Porcello
