Have you ever noticed that locker room nameplates ONLY come from games from Opening Day,Mother's/Father's Day,Jackie Robinson Day,July 4th,& The World Series?? I have never seen a regular-game nameplate before. Are they even available for sale??

I think fondly of the time in the late 1980's/early 1990's that I would simply ask Cal & Bill Ripken for their Locker Nameplates (that were used for the entire season) & they would oblige.....

Thought I might resurrect this post from a month or so ago. Here is a picture of Cal Ripken Jr.'s locker nameplate that he gave me after the last home game of the 1988 season (no holograms, no COA's, just pleasant memories!).

This is what Ive got for locker room name plates. I have a Juan Uribe Father's Day locker room name plate and then several others from regular games.

The father's day name plate cost me $50 while the others were $130 all together.

I won the signed locker room name plates from a Giants versus Dodgers Old Timers Game. The game was a charity played to support a hospital and after the game the name plates were auctioned off with the money going to the hospital. This might give insight into the commonness of special event name plates on the market.

I was wondering if someone would show up with that Thome nameplate. I had a buddy go to the garage sale lookig for one. But, they were gone by then. Any chance I could pay you for it ? I really would like it to go on my Thome locker. Lmk. I'm sure I can make it woth your while. Lmk. Roger:D

That Thome plate was desirable in my opinion too, but I can't have White Sox anything anywhere near my Astros room!

One thing I've never quite understood...I've seen how the big locker tags, the ones that are, like, 7" x 24", or whatever they are, slide into a frame above the lockers...but I don't think I've ever seen how the smaller ones are displayed in the locker room - how they're attached to or above the locker, in other words. Anybody know, for sure?

Tigerdale:

What do you typically pay for your nameplates? I have one I'd like to sell but have no idea on value. I don't want to come up with a figure that is outrageous... Thanks in advance for consideration!

a lot of common players in the past couple season, you can get cheap....5 to 25 dollars. Big names, the tigers put on their auction site & they seem to get up to 100. Older ones are iffy, they're were just hard to come by back then for me. I hope this helps some....

Haha, didn't think so.

I'd be very interested in the Konerko if you ever consider selling it.

Thanks,

I picked up several diff. teams in bulk/auction from Stiener Sports a few years back (Braves, Angels, Diamondbacks, Dodgers, etc), sold them on ebay, a few forum members picked some up..I was also able to purchase sev. dozen vintage (cardboard style) Reds nameplates when Riverfront Stadium was cleaned out years ago..still have a couple of those for my collection..the Indians sold some years back at a "Garage Sale" & I missed the Eddie Murray (looking to purchase if anyone knows where it went)..this past summer the Indians had sev. diff. ones for sale mostly signed, including some from spring training (prices varied)..also looking for any Jay Payton nameplates.
