Are bat tubes safe for long term storage?

I have a bat that is currently stored in one of those soft plastic bat tubes with the black end caps and wanted to know if they are recommended for long term storage. If not, what other type of case/storage should I place it in. Thanks!

I have my bats in those tubes also covered by an athletic sock (never have had an issue)
