I've read that sometimes the "game worn" swatches or patches on cards aren't always exactly game used, but does anyone out there think that this could possibly be an actual piece of a patch from an Evan Longoria World series jersey?

Even if it were real, it would have to be one helluva huge patch for them to get 35 swatches out of it. #9 of 35

Well I've seen about 5-6 cards from this series but this is the first patch card i've seen on the 35 produced, but figured there is no way that one of the only few World series jerseys that were worn were given up to the card companies to be diced up and put onto a card...

the other Longo cards of the 35 produced that I've seen were parts of the rays front logo and parts of his nameplate from the back of a home white jersey

Sellers have long faked patch cards, swapping out more mundane patches for the eye appeal of the big ticket swatch. If it's limited to 35 and has that "nice" a patch, there's no way it's real.

considering stu sternberg requested evan's home and road game used jerseys from the 08 world series, I would highly doubt the card is legit

That card is one of the most obvious fakes I've ever seen, in fact, it's quite sloppy work.

Even if UD would have gotten Longo's WS jersey, that patch would have been used in a special 1/1 card, not in a regular patch card. I also do not believe UD used anything but #'s, Nameplates, and team patches for that set. Nothing commemorative was used. The patch is also way too-centered, almost perfect.

However, this was not the company's doing. This was done on the secondary market. More than likely, the patch was a 1 or 2 color patch that was pretty boring and it wouldn't bring a large premium, so someone swapped the boring patch with one that would bring a bigger price tag.

This is for sure a fake, i know where most of the Rays World Series jerseys are including all the ones Longo used, and i can tell you no card company got them.

actually here is a thought....

when they number out of /35 - those 35 could be various patches, like the devil rays sleeve patch. Nameplate or number patch, the Rays sunburst in the "R", could be a lot of of things to get to 35 cards.

ALSO, this could be the patch he wore on a pregame warm up pullover shirt. i know longo did wear that in bp for a couple world series games. Not that is is a "JERSEY" but it si a worn item, not sure how closely the COA on the back of the card states what is worn.

I can confirm that Evan's home and away world series jerseys are in the possession of Stu.
