Darrell Akerfelds, the Padres' bullpen coach since mid-2001, died Sunday after a two-year battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 50.
Akerfelds last appeared in uniform this past April 15th.
He pitched in parts of five MLB seasons with Oakland, Cleveland, Texas and Philadelphia.
