In the photos, the 44 looks whiter than the CELTICS name. Maravich only played 26 games in the last half of the season with the Celts in 1979-80, so a recycled jersey is possible, though, without provenance or a confirmable timeline, I would be leery.

If the "17" is a number ID tag, the last previous #17 on the team was John Havlicek, no slouch himself. Again, though, I'd want to see a stitch imprint of Havilcek's name and number before I'd even consider approving this jersey. Without something solid to go on, this one's better left alone.

I may be wrong, but I believe the "17" is an inventory code not a uniform number.
I would need to see the jersey in person or hear the history.
