Mile High has a Sonny Jurgensen jersey that brings up a curious DC legend about one time Redskins equipment manager Tom McVean (see passage from book). In looking at the photos of the jersey, all spots seem to be about the size of cleats worn in the early to mid 70s. The most puzzling aspect, however, is that all the evidence of wear/game use is well below that portion of the jersey that would have been tucked into the pants.

jdr3,

Thanks for posting this excerpt from Skins history. This is great information, that echoes the current actions of some unscrupulous jersey dealers.

However, I have no opinion of the jersey at auction.

I hope it did not seem I was implying Mile High had any knowledge. I just wanted to share a bizarre story.

Several dozen jerseys? Wow, scammin' in the 70s!

Cool book that the reference came from. It is on Amazon for about two buckx new (plus shipping.) You gotta love those late 1950's 'Skins and Nationals !!!
