I met up with my all-time favorite Gopher this weekend, Tyrone Carter. My GF and I drove out to Palm Beach to take in the sights and hook up Tyrone on Friday night. I have to say he was one of the most laid back, gracious, and funny guys I've ever met. He went way out of his way to meet up w/ us and right after a family commitment he had earlier in the day. Tyrone was a 2X All American and Thorpe Award winner (Nagurski finalist), as well as a 2X Super Bowl champion with the Steelers. He was the key component in the Gophers turn around bringing us to our first bowl in more than a decade in 1999. He took about 20 minutes to hang out with me and my gf (who was starstruck) and talked football, cars, and family. By the way, check out his sick ride!
My new favorite jersey is Tyrone's 2010 San Diego Charger's home gamer. It has numerous sewing repairs, hit marks, etc.. He only had one Vikes, Steelers, and Jets at home, but brought both of his Chargers and let me pick the one I wanted. If anyone could find a good pic of him wear the jersey, I'd really appreciate it. I did a few searches and couldn't come up w/ anything but a low res shot.
