I was tempted to make a post on this one last time it was on ebay and never did....

But now that it has re-appeared, i have a second opportunity :

My question is, from the getty pics I saw, it looks like they were using a small, "old school" NFL Shield in the neck, in 2001. But the jersey sports a larger NFL shield. Did they change shields mid season, or is this a jersey thats new than 2001, that had the neck year/size swatch replaced for some reason? Interesting jersey...

Lets here some opinions on this one.

That Chad Johnson "rookie gamer" previously sold for only $420?

The shield may be explained by a 2001 jersey that was used in 2002.
Here's an example. Jay Williams was traded to the Dolphins in July 2002.

I've seen a decent-sized number of 2001 Reebok jerseys (including from the Bengals) that were used in 2002 and had the neck logo updated. That, in and of itself, shouldn't be a disqualifier on this item.

I have a couple of Cowboys' jerseys where the updated NFL shield was sewn on top of an older one. It is probably easier to sewn a new on top of an older one than it is to try to remove the old one first.

I have also seen the same thing...ask the guy to send you a pic of the inside of the neck of the jersey...there should be a smaller shield outlined with stitching, and then the larger Reebok Equipment patch sewn over it, with that larger stitching outlining the old shield.
