Tigers Invite Fans to 'Rally Monday' Event at Comerica Park

DETROIT, Sept. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- After clinching a post-season berth with Sunday's 11-4 win at Kansas City, the Detroit Tigers announced today that the team will host a "Rally Monday" event at Comerica Park on Monday, October 2, 2006 from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. The event is free to the general public.

"Rally Monday" in Detroit, sponsored by AT&T, will feature a variety of activities designed for fans to show their support for the 2006 Tigers -- who kick off the American League Division Series on Tuesday, October 3. "We are thrilled to share the excitement of the 2006 Detroit Tigers with the fans who have supported us throughout the season," said Duane McLean, Tigers senior vice president of Business Operations. "This is a great opportunity to come together and celebrate an incredible season and rally 'round the team as we start the post-season!"

A highlight on the "Rally Monday" schedule will be Michigan native and award-winning actor / playwright Jeff Daniels who will perform his song, "The Lifelong Tiger Fan Blues Revisited" live at the event. Additionally, former Tiger greats will be on hand signing autographs for fans at this Tigers post- season celebration. Former Tigers scheduled to appear at "Rally Monday" include 1968 World Champions Al Kaline, Willie Horton and Gates Brown, along with Tigers 1984 World Champion, Dan Petry. Fox Sports Net Detroit's Mario Impemba and Rod Allen will emcee the event -- which will also include a special appearance by Tigers Hall-of-Fame broadcaster, Ernie Harwell.

The first 2,500 fans will receive a free Tigers Rally Towel and the first 5,000 fans in attendance will have an opportunity to win American League Division Series tickets. In addition, the first 5,000 fans can enter to win game-used bases and baseballs from the 2006 ALDS games to be played at Comerica Park.

Fans will also have an opportunity to purchase exclusive playoff merchandise during the event.

"We also know we have plenty of fans across the state of Michigan, across the nation and around the world who are catching Tiger Fever and we encourage them to participate in 'Rally Monday' even if it is in spirit only," said McLean. "Whether in person at the 'Rally Monday' event at Comerica Park or spirit days at schools and businesses, this is a great time for our city and for our state and we want everyone to participate."

For fans unable to attend the event in person, several media outlets will be covering the event and more details on how to catch the event over the air will be made available later in the week. Additionally, Tigers fans everywhere, young and old, are encouraged to show their spirit by wearing team colors or Tigers gear.
