SAN DIEGO -- The San Diego Padres announced plans for "Rally Monday" (October 2), an interactive celebration of the first back-to-back playoff appearances in franchise history. The Padres "Rally Monday" begins at 5:00 p.m. PT at PETCO Park's Park at the Park and is presented by Bank of America.
Major League Baseball has officially designated October 2 as "Rally Monday," with each of the seven cities with playoff-bound teams staging similar events on the eve of postseason play. All "Rally Monday" events are open to the public, free of charge and will take place rain or shine.

Fans will hear from Padres players, either in person or via the opponent's city, depending on where San Diego opens postseason play.

Channel 4 San Diego will telecast the event live from 5:30-6:00 p.m., while the radio home of the Padres, the Mighty XX, will broadcast from the ballpark. The Padres Spanish-language flagship, XEMO 860-AM, will also be on hand. Emcees for the festivities will be Padres broadcasters Matt Vasgersian and Mark Grant, as well as XX personality Darren Smith.

The first 2,500 fans will receive Rally Towels while all attendees will receive a Padres "Mission October" Cheer Card and are eligible to win one of several pairs of NLDS tickets and game-used items. In addition to hearing from Padres players and coaches, the event will include appearances by Padres alumni, live music and activities for kids. Food, beverages and Padres playoff merchandise will be on sale at the event.

San Diego clinched a playoff berth earlier this afternoon with 3-1 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks.
