New York Jets Question

For those of you that have 1990's Jets jersey's in your collection made by Champion, can anyone explain why the spandex sides fade so easily? Ive got other jersey's older than the 90's and the sides still look great. Ive really noticed this with the home green jersey's.

It's a good sign if you own a 90's Jets jersey, and the sides have a faded "lime green" side spandex...that most likely means that it's 100% legit. I have heard stories that the fading came from the type of detergent that the jerseys were washed in by the equipment managers. There could be another plausible reason for the fading, but I haven't heard of one?
