Freddy passed away last postseason and his frying pan and spoon were donated to the Baseball Hall of Fame.

Picked up a couple of Miguel Tejada bats. The xbat is photo matched to 3 doubles in two games. The BWP is authenticated as a issued bat (June 29th), but was split into two pieces in his first at bat on June 29th. I was also able to photo match it to his last at bat on June 28th, in which he hit his second home run of the season(only had 4 as a giant). Also picked up a game used baseball hit for a double.

2002 Albert Pujols Game Used Bat. Traced to an order of 3 bats. I want to thank Bert (Shoremen44) for parting with this after I have had my eye on it for a long time.

Text book Pujols, red bat rack streaks, deep seam impressions on right hand hitters side, "game" denoted on knob much like many of his older bats, and light pine tar near the center brand... I think I can finally rest now from searching.

I had a great Robinson Cano pick-up in early February. Purchased a game used rookie bat from 2005. Rawlings Pro model.

I have photomatched(thanks to Kyle and Absolon) it to a specific at bat on August 6, 2005 vs. the Toronto Blue Jays. Bat is absolutely crushed with use, autographed and uncracked with the #22 on the knob. Elite Sports Marketing LOA.

Thanks, I picked it up when I purchased the Trot Nixon bat, I asked if he had any Hawaii players and he said he had a Agbayani bat, the seller was a former (visitor) bat boy of a Yankees minor league team, he was given the bat personally from Benny when he cracked it playing for the Norfolk Tides.

Back Sunday night from my annual pilgrimage to Yuma, to see some games in the independent Arizona Winter League. Eight games in four days, too much sun, and I did manage, incidentally, to collect a few items for the Minor League wing of the collection.

My Arizona Roadrunners played the Long Beach Armada on Friday, and the Armada’s leadoff hitter, a big kid from Tokyo named Daiki Doi, broke his bat in half in the first inning. The barrel end was taken into the Arizona dugout, and the handle went the other way…so after the game, I got the main part of the bat from the Arizona guys and went over to the Armada dugout to seek reunification.

I got the attention of the Manager - who also happened to be Japanese - and, holding up the bat, just said, “One of your players, Doi, broke this in the first inning.” That’s all I had to say, ‘cause he just nodded and shouted a long string of Japanese to somebody at the other end of the dugout. I peeked in and saw Doi digging through the trash for about a minute before finding the handle; he trotted over and handed it to me, and of course I domo arigato’ed him, and he put a nice signature in Kanji on the bat for me.

As you can see, it’s a Japanese bat. (Does anybody know if the brand name is “Super S” or just “Super”?)

My favorite player on the Roadrunners is Blake Shaffer. Currently leading the league in BA and RBIs, he looks like a certain type of hardnosed ballplayer. Long hair, full beard, jersey usually about half unbuttoned. “Kruk-esque”, one might say…but he slaps the Hell out of the ball, and shows a lot of poise out there. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Blake get a minor league contract at the end of the month.

Anyway, I saw him use the same two-tone D-Bat for three consecutive games, and then, on Sunday, after his first at-bat, he switched to another one. He passed by the stands later in the game, and I asked him whether he’d broken it. He laughed and said, “It’s been broken. I’ve been hitting with a broken bat ‘cause my bat order hasn’t come in.” I asked whether he was going to keep on using it, and he said, “Nah, it’s done.” Of course I asked if I could have it as a souvenir, and he said sure, and after the game he signed it for me, and of course that's the other bat in the picture.

Before my last game on Sunday afternoon, the girl who runs the souvenir stand at the Stadium, who knows me for a collector, tossed a jersey onto the counter when I walked up. “They gave these to me to sell,” she said. It was a Team Canada jersey, and she had six left. (This “Team Canada” is not the national team, of course, but an Arizona Winter League and Arizona Summer League independent team.) Not knowing how much they’d told her to sell them for, I asked what numbers they were, thinking I’d get at least one, and she read the numbers off, and then said, “They’re $10 each.”

Yeah, a couple years ago, there were dozens of bats that Sheff wrote all sorts of things on... I think he wrote it...

The "Elite" sticker didn't register the first time I saw it, so obviously this was done at a private signing, where Sheffield would have had all the time in the world to do it, and no doubt they told him what all they'd like to have him put on the bat. Now that I think about it, it makes sense that Sheffield would have written it all. I just wasn't thinking it through before - sorry.

My consignor asked me to auction some a couple of early 1970's Chicago Bears jerseys for him. The winner of the dark blue jersey, AFTER the auction had ended, asked if he could pay for the jersey in installments. I nixed that request and decided to work out a cash / trade deal with the consignor. Although I am a Dallas Cowboys collector, I fell in love with the beauty of the Bears jersey. All original and team repairs - this one now belongs to me! The deal was concluded yesterday. :)
