Guy's

Wondering what the most unusual game used items you have in your collection.

Post pics please :)

Ours is a game used wrist guard worn by Brett Gardner during the 2010 season.

I don't think I have any photos handy of my Kelly Stinnett game-used shower wrap...but here are some of Matt Williams' golf bags.

Hmm. Well here are two. My Jared Allen is the only Allen worn during a home game by him in Detroit. It was worn in the game vs. the Giants last year they was moved to Detroit because of snow. My Von Miller jersey is the first NFL jersey he ever wore and it is Orange rather than the usual Broncos colors.

The oddest item that I have in my collection is a hockey jersey that was cut off a player due to an on ice injury. The jersey is a Toronto Mapleleafs and the player is Kris Newbury. I will see if I can find some pictures. You can find a video of the fight on youtube.

My most unusual items are from the same player. I have Wes Welker's wrist bands from the 2002 Tangerine Bowl. The next year I got a tortilla autographed by him. (a photographer wanted a photo of him signing it, so he handed it to me for him to sign.)

I know I've showed this in a team thread before, but it remains the most unique game used item in my collection:

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j16/frikativ54/bags91.jpg

Jeff Bagwell 1991 Pittsburgh Three Rivers Stadium Home Run Marker.

In Three Rivers Stadium, the Pirates put markers up for the home runs that reached the upper deck; Bagwell accomplished the feat twice. This is his 1991 homer marker, which is special to me, because the monstrous shot was described on the back of the first Bagwell card I ever owned.

Here is a screen shot of the marker from the 1994 All-Star Game HR Derby:

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j16/frikativ54/Bagwell-1994-Derby-Marker.jpg

Glenallen Hill hit the sign on the fly in 1994. A dent and tape residue over the Bagwell sign attests to the fact that Hill's marker, #11, was placed over that of Jeff later in the season:

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j16/frikativ54/upperdk2.jpg

After Three Rivers Stadium was imploded, there was an auction where all the assets were sold. The HR marker was in the possession of a memorabilia shop in Pittsburgh, which put it on eBay last year. I was the only buyer who showed interest, and after a couple of months, we were able to agree on a price. In retrospect, I'm so happy I pulled the trigger. :D

How could I forget about Phineas? Phineas is the old Phoenix Firebirds mascot, retired in 1997, when the Diamondbacks came to town and the Giants' Triple-A franchise moved to Fresno. (Boy, I wish that corner of the room still looked that good; stuff has kind of piled up in the last few years.)

Okay, so not game used, but a fav of mine.

A "Name The Team" contest display (with ballots) from 1976 after Toronto won an expansion American League team. Probably one of the "first" Blue Jays souvenirs!

No game used, but I have a Johnny Bench signed Feeney ball to Redd Fox. He signed it, "To Redd Fox with Great Respect....Johnny Bench"

It's quite a conversation piece.

I'd like to see photos, I am the world's biggest Redd Foxx fan. A signed ball by Foxx personalized to Bench is worth much, much more. If one exists.
FWIW, Redd was in attendance at Hank Aaron's 715th homer.

Not Game Used as well, but people may remember that at the 1996 All Star Game in Philadelphia, the White Sox's Roberto Hernandez accidently broke Cal Ripken Jr.'s nose after the A.L. team photo was taken....Cal was treated by the Phillies team doctor and I had sign him a sign his business card with an inscription shortly afterwards:

Attached is a photo of my NFL football stamping die from the Wilson factory in Ada, OH, circa the late 1970s-1980s. Next to the die is a screen shot from a 1988 newscast showing one of these in action (the raw steel ones have near as I can tell been replaced by stainless). Couple of broken welds in the crossmembers, but still solid as ever.

While not game used per se, it had a hand in making likely thousands of game used balls over the years, and (I think) looks apropos next to all my NFL game balls.

Hey everyone! Here are some pictures of the hockey jersey I previously mentioned. It had to be cut off the player due to being knocked unconcious on the ice. Enjoy!

anyone else have an mlb authenticated game used baseball where the batter was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded? its an unusual situation. not sure how often this happens over the course of one major league season.

I have a pair of practice-used shorts from Allen Iverson's stint with the 76ers. Proving once and for all that he did in fact practice and wasn't just talkin' bout it. He signed them recently and added "PU" for practice used, but it almost seems like "Pee-you! Why do you have my practice shorts.

I have a few unusual game used items from Chris Snee. I have a pair of socks, a knee brace, an elbow sleeve and a mouthpiece that all came with the game used uniform I got from him in 2009.

I have pictures but they're all huge, so I won't annoy anybody with them in this post.

I do; I work in manufacturing, and think it looks pretty cool next to a factory worker's game ball collection. Very appropriate. Only other thing I've seen even close to it for sale was a Spalding football brand, but since Spalding doesn't make NFL balls, it didn't grab me like this did.

The cut-off hockey jersey reminded me of that scene from The Wrestler, where Mickey Rourke's character is checking out of the hospital, and he finds the bloody wrestling costume they cut off of him and tosses it in the trash. I'm sure I'm not the only GU collector to see that and wince. (Ditto the boxing gloves Bruce Willis throws out of the taxi in Pulp Fiction.)

A Miguel Cabrera bat with both Phoenix and Zinger labeling. It's a good bat though -- photomatched to a home run against the Rockies on 5/23/2009.

As most of you know, I am a huge collector of Sami Salo's memorabilia. A couple of seasons ago, Sami went to block a puck and did so......with a very sensitive "walnut" which was reportedly removed.(it wasn't but he was hit in that region)

I've been asked on more than on occasion by jealous and stupid Canucks fans if it was "part of your extensive collection" My reply is usually "You have some cajones to ask such a ballsy question! What are you, nuts?"

Jeff Nelson I believe was the first to do that but I think a few more have done it since.

Will have to revive this with something I picked up the other day. Found former Portland Trail Blazer Damon Stoudamire's custom-made four-button black wool crepe suit at a thrift shop for $12 this past weekend. Though not game used per se, the suit may have seen a sideline/locker room here and there.

Suit is made by defunct "clothier to the athletes" Dion Scott of Beverly Hills, and has Stoudamire's name on the custom crafted label inside the suit, as well as his name on the order tag inside one of the pockets. Suit was made in November 1999, when Stoudamire was a member of the Blazers.

I've yet to find a photo of him wearing the suit, but based on an item that was in the inside pocket when I bought it, he likely gave it to a former teammate from Portland's Wilson High School (my former high school, incidentally), who later donated it to the shop I bought it from.

Weirdest of all? This suit actually fits me; apparently Damon liked his suits baggy, since I have about three inches and twenty pounds on him.

That is too funny.
