View Full Version : Strange 1988 Expos 20th Anniversary Jersey with "Petro Canada" patch

Hey guys, I'm hoping someone can shed a little light on the history behind this uniform? The player Tim Foli had finished his playing days by '88 but was issued this uniform none the less. It has all the correct tagging as far as I know but I cant find any game pics of anyone donning a similar style, nor any additional info anywhere. Help is greatly appreciated!

Great pickup !!!

After correlating with the MLB Henderson guide......... it shows that this type of jersey was a prototype which could have been specially ordered from longtime Expos sponsor Petro Canada.

thanks for the help in ID'ing the jersey here and via email. does anyone know what kind of value something like this might have considering it's rarity? has anyone ever seen one for sale?

Apart from the photo in Henderson's Guide, I have never seen one of these before... until this weekend, when the Foli jersey surfaced. It sold for a best offer of $250. I don't know if either the seller or buyer knew what they have.

thanks for the insight, although I think it's pretty obvious the uniform is worth considerably more than $250. a member of the forum emailed me:

I had a chance a couple years back to purchase a common player for 500.00.. it should be worth more than that.

I've been looking for one of these for awhile. I believe they were actually worn in some sort of on-field presentation or an old timers game in MTL. Nice pickup!
