FLUSHING -- The New York Mets today announced the launch of a charity auction of authentic, autographed game worn caps, honoring the City's uniformed servicemen and servicewomen, from the Mets' game on September 10 against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Shea Stadium and their Sept. 11 game in Miami against the Florida Marlins.
A total of 44 caps, each of which bear the initials or shield of a City agency, were individually signed by a player or coach on the Mets roster. Fans can bid on these one-of-a-kind caps, that honor the New York City Police Department, New York City Fire Department, New York City Fire Department EMT, New York City Fire Department Paramedics, New York State Courts, Port Authority Police Department, and the Office of Emergency Management.

The online auction on mets.com runs through November 1, with all proceeds distributed by the Mets Foundation to benefit ongoing efforts to support families of area police, fire, civic, and emergency officials who lost lives in the September 11 attacks on America.

Online bids for individual caps will be accepted, as well as the opportunity to bid on the entire collection of caps. The minimum starting bid for the complete set of caps begins at $50,000.
