WTB: Joey Meyer Brewers GAME USED BAT AND JERSEY!!!

Joey Meyer Brewers game used bat and jersey. I'm real interested in either item!!!

I saw a pinstripe Meyer on ebay about 7 years ago and almsot bought it. I was always a bit of a Joey Meyer fan because of this story.

In 1989, I won a contest to be a batboy for the BRewers for 1 game through milkduds. So, on July 24, 1989 (at age 9 at the time) I got to be the batboy and before the game, i met the entire roster of players including molitor and yount (who arrived to the park late).

The best part was that I got to play catch with a Brewers player and get a one on one photo with him and meet personally. The Brewers PR guy selected Joey Meyer, who i knew was from Hawaii. I don't recall much except that he was huge and very nice guy.

Any ways, Meyer entered the game late in the game contest as a pinch hitter and hit a homerun to dead center field. When he crossed home plate, he pointed over at me, which was an awesome thrill. Brewers won 10-0 and the box score is below.

After that, I still followed his brief career, i believe he went to Japan in 1990 or 1991 and didn't return to the big league.

Also, I recall he was a big-time power hitter in the minors and at one point with the Denver Zephyrs he hit the longest ball in mile high or whether ever they played and the team painted the seat for him, I think it was around a 500 foot homerun.

A friend I went to grade school with's father was a sports psychologist for the Brewers in the early 1990's and worked with the Mariners as well, he always said Joey was really a great guy as well.

That is a cool story! By all accounts Meyer is a nice guy. I have never meet him personally, but know of other who have. They all say, Big dude, but nice as hell!

Now I just need a bat and jersey for my collection.
