According to texasrangers.com, game 7 was the highest TV rating for any baseball game since the 2004 "reverse the curse" WS. It boosted Fox to the biggest Friday night in the network's history.

I'm sure the "baseball is dying" crowd will still try to find arguments for their prejudice. But baseball thrives and creates new fans wherever parity trumps the old "same-old" dynasty disease that caused baseball to lose its prominence to football in the very height of the Yankee dynasty of the 1950's. My unmarried sister-in-law never liked sports, although she's been a Michican State Prof since the 1970's. But she watched baseball to "expand her perspectives" last year and was immediately hooked. She folowed the postseason avidly this year and watched Game 4 and a couple Detroit games through.

The "baseball is dying" group goes all the way back to 1870. That year, an officer in the Cincinnatti baseball club argued that the club should give up its professional Red Stockings, because professional baseball was a "passing fad." His attitude helped prompt the core of those Red Stockings to move to Boston in 1871, where they remain to this day as the Atlanta Braves!
