I'm hoping a Cleveland Indians collector (or anyone with Indians equipment knowledge) can help me nail down the origins and hopefully authenticity of this item.

Here are my thoughts; it appears this item is similar in color and lettering to the red jerseys the Indians wore in the early to mid 1970's. It's made of a heavier fleece material, therefore I'm assuming it may have been worn during the early spring prior to the game, possible players on the bench. All lettering and numbers are sewn on. It has a number 15 on the left sleeve. I researched the Indians rosters from 1970 through 1979. Frank Duffy was number 15 from 1972 through 1977. No one wore number 15 during the years 1970, 1971, and 1978. (it's possible this was from spring training and therefore maybe it was worn at that time during these years). Tom Veryzer wore number 15 in 1979. The maker of the jacket is Spanjian.

If anyone can share some more information regarding this item I would be truly grateful.

I'd be more than happy to answer any questions. Feel free to contact me directly at JEFFREDSFAN1975@YAHOO.COM

Thank you in advance!

1960s Cleveland High School Cavaliers in the San Fernando Valley. Basketball warm-up. Sorry for the b-news.

I never saw a item like this that I thought to be associated with the MLB indians. The team didn't even use the wishbone-shaped C after 1972.

Given the construct of the item, I wonder if it could be a basketball warmup or shooting shirt? Spanjan was a moderately active BSKB uniform supplier in the 1970s. I'm not suggesting the Cavs, but maybe Cleveland State? That's a wild guess, not an authoratative ID. Maybe Warren, Chris, and some of the other Forum mebers with a background in obscure pro, college, and prep sports could be of help.

Thanks for the information guys. Not the outcome I had hoped for, but what the heck, it's still cool looking and wasn't expensive! Thanks again.

This is a record price for a Cleveland High School item:

This is older than the existence of the NBA Cavs.
