Newly chosen player collection

After having seen a few great player collections on here (Milledge and A. Jackson to nake a few) I thought I would focus my wants to one player. I mulled over many players in MLB and several in NFL. I wanted to choose a player who is inexpensive yet holds promise as far as becoming a good, everyday player.

Having been a Mets fan for the better part of my life I finally starting looking at Ruben Tejada. While I fear he may only be a role player who bounces between the minors and the bigs, he seems to be a bright young player (if he is truly only 21). And best of all, his game used items are very affordable.

I hope to one day put together a nice, quality collection of Tejada that will look as great as some that I have seen here. I'm very passionate about my Mets and hope this kid will be in the middle infield for years to come.

Really nice to hear, wish you well with this endeavor. Personally, if you truly like Tejada as a player you should to stick with him through the thick and thin. It is a reality I had to deal with and I'm just as happy as I as now as I was when I picked up my first piece in 2009 and started following in 2006. Not to gloat, but I feel a player collection is something truly unique in this hobby.

I 2nd that. My player collection is Jose Lopez, who has really fallen on tough times. It just makes his items cheaper for me to buy. I do hope that he finds his game again, though.

I like Tejada as well. Just something about him. I decided to stick with caps. His 2010 and 2011 black caps.

Anyone have an opinion on a fair price for a Tejada game worn jersey? Just looking for opinions from other collectors.

Good luck in your endeavor. My player is too expensive now days (Chipper Jones), so I too am looking for a younger player. Another Met to consider is Wilmer Flores. I watched him play in Savannah and there is alot of potential there.

Recently, the Mets had the lineup card from his MLB debut (LH881562), his 9-11 hat (FJ088097), and hit balls (FJ347852, FJ347540, FJ347469, FJ347508, FJ337973, FJ337521). If you are particularly into the Braves rivalry, you might also enjoy FJ347749, which Tejada hit into an Uggla error.

Also, they may have some jerseys, etc from the season's conclusion.

The Mets deserve some great credit for having their authentication efforts and marketing coordinated... which allows for many great items being authenticated... for their relevance. they just listed a tejada game used jersey on the mets auction website if you are interested
