Hey guys,

I was recently able to acquire a jersey that I had been wanting for quite sometime: a Terrell Owens Game-Worn Cincinnati Bengals jersey from JO Sports; which I now consider to be the centerpiece of my collection.

It's an incredible shirt that displays respectable signs of use and was purchased UNWASHED.

I've spent time over the past few days attempting to find a definitive photomatch, but have had no luck thus far. When comparing pictures of the jersey to pictures I've found from the game, nothing looks out of line; but I've yet to find that clear, definitive photomatch.

I've posted pictures of the jersey I purchased along with some pictures from the game I've already found online.

I am offering $50 to the first person who can find me a clear, definitive photomatch.

Matching up the stains on either the front or back of the jersey may be ideal. There are a number of pictures on Getty, USPressWire, etc. I've just had a tough time finding anything definitive.

Any help that could be provided would be MOST APPRECIATED. :)

Please feel welcome to either post in this thread or email me at peytonmanningtribute@yahoo.com to claim your $50 reward if you feel that you've found something solid.

Thanks guys!!!

Okay guys,

The jersey I purchased was worn by Owens during the Week 12 (11/25/10 Thanksgiving Day Game on NFL Network) against the New York Jets.

I just put up some additional pictures that I hope might help someone be able to find a photomatch. When I took the jersey out to take the pictures, something stood out to me. It was the stitching in the upper right-hand corner of the number '1' on the back of the jersey.

There almost appears to be a little extra black material in that one area. I do not have any great close-up shots of the back of Owens' jersey from the game, but I do think that I noticed that little bit of extra black material in one of the photos I previously posted.

You guys tell me...

After having been working on finding a photomatch for a great deal of the night, I think that I may have finally discovered something. Because I wasn't able to find anything conclusive when comparing my jersey to photos of the Jets game, I decided that it wouldn't hurt to compare my jersey to photos of Owens during other games in the 2010 season just to see if something might turn up.

I may have lucked out.

For starters, my jersey shows a respectable amount of use. It's not hammered by any means, but the amount of use seems to be respectable for a game (@ the Jets) where Owens only caught 3 passes. Could it be possible that my jersey was worn during a different game?

A fellow board member was kind enough to forward me a high-resolution image of Owens during the Jets game; and in the image, it appeared as though there should be some white-stitching around Owens' left under-arm that I just didn't see on my jersey.

http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/l560/GameWornJerseys/TO1.jpg

Clearly the jersey shows signs of game-use; so I looked at images from other away games until one game in-particular caught my eye. The 10/24/10 game @ Atlanta. The holes within the top portion of the front number '8' seemed to match up very well.

http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/l560/GameWornJerseys/falcons3.jpg

http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/l560/GameWornJerseys/falcons2.jpg

http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/l560/GameWornJerseys/falcons1.jpg

From what I could tell, the holes in the top of the front number '8' as well as the specific hole right underneath the curved part of the front number '1' seemed to match up well.

Then, I noticed three distinctive characteristics present in my jersey that matched up with images of Owens from the Falcons game.

1) The off-set placement between the NFL Shield and the large "B" Cincinnati Bengals logo.

http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/l560/GameWornJerseys/match4.jpg

2) The white stitching present at the under-arm to the right of the front number '1'.

http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/l560/GameWornJerseys/match2.jpg

3) The orange stitching present at the left of the under-arm to the right of the front number '8'.

http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/l560/GameWornJerseys/match3.jpg

From as best as I can tell, all of the above-mentioned characteristics seem to match up very well, if not perfectly with my jersey. If that be the case (and that is not to say that this jersey wasn't worn in the 11/25/10 game against the Jets), that would mean that this jersey was in-fact worn during the Bengals 10/24/10 game against the Atlanta Falcons.

In that game, Terrell Owens caught the 150th touchdown of his career!

That would also explain why my jersey seems to have a bit more use then one would expect (Owens had 9 catches for 88 yards and a touchdown against Atlanta). There are also some faint red (what appears to be) paint marks of some sort; again, in line with what may have been on the Georgia field.

So what do you guys think...do I have a photomatch?

Does anyone know where I might be able to find any high-resolution images from the Bengals 10/24/10 game against the Falcons?

nice photomatch bud, probably took you while to get that perfect pic

Thanks masp3392. :)

Another board member was kind enough to also forward me the following high-resolution image of Owens from the Atlanta game. In the image, there is a mark to the left of the front number '1' that appears to be in a different place then on my jersey. My jersey has a similar mark right around there, but I'm not sure if they line up perfectly.

However, comparing the holes around the front number '8' does appear to be a match as best as I can tell.

I think you need to find better resolution photos to find a conclusive match, things appear promising but I do not see that conclusive match you are looking for.

If JO Sports marked it as the Jets game (and I hope we can assume such is not an error), I would be very surprised if the jersey was also used in another game. Late last season, the Bengals changed their own Proshops offering from "Worn" to "Issued" but TO was one of two worn/issued jersey names they appear to have been trying to monetize at the $750 price point all season. Even after they changed their offerings from "Worn" to "Issued" late in the season there were 6 to 10 TO jerseys among their "Issued" rack with several appearing to show use. When you count them and the offerings JO received, it appears TO in particular average amount of use per jersey would be less than 4 QTRs. When JO and the Bengals got married, it was a marriage of two similar businesses that are very focused on profit first, then profit second, then profit third. As priorities, good taste and value for the consumer experience probably ranks somewhere in the 100s.

Speaking generally, if your jersey was worn for more than 1 game its a special thing for an Owens 2010. The organization's priorities being what they are (profitability w near term vision), they don't miss opportunities to generate revenue above contribution margin. So, once Mr. Popcorn came to Cincy, Owens gamers hit maximum production.

Here is a larger image of Owens after scoring (I believe) his 150th touchdown. Take a close look at the white thread sewn into the black material near the under-arm to the left of the front number '1'.

http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/l560/GameWornJerseys/mine11.jpg

That appears to match up to me; as does the orange thread sewn a little above and to the left of the front number '8' which I detailed previously. I cannot say without a shadow of a doubt that it's an unquestionable match; but all of the above appears pretty convincing.

What do you guys think?

Thank you for the feedback Dolphins23,

I actually posted those same images in my first post of this thread.

They are good angles of both the front and back of the jersey from the Jets game; but it's difficult to tell due to the sizes of the images themselves.

I think I may have very well photomatched my jersey to the 10/24/10 game against the Falcons; but I'm in the process of trying to get more high-resolution images from that game to help further confirm the possible photomatch. :)

weird JO would get the game wrong like that. I reveresed the images colors to look for number stains and saw non on the Jets game photos. But this could be because he didn't get the mark on the back 8 when the picture was taken.

A great deal of thanks is owed to neverfinished94,as he was able to photomatch my jersey 100% as promised.

Although I'm pretty certain that I've already photomatched my jersey to the 10/24/10 game against the Atlanta Falcons, my jersey has now been officially photomatched to the 11/14/10 game against the Indianapolis Colts.

http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/l560/GameWornJerseys/photomatch2.jpg

My best guess is that my jersey was probably worn during the 10/24/10 game against the Falcons, then again (as the photomatch indicates) against the Colts during the Bengals' next road game on 11/14/10.

It's been a wild ride working hard to find this photomatch; and I extend my thanks again to neverfinished94 for coming through with the definitive photomatch I was looking for. :)

After photomatching my jersey to the 11/14/10 game against the Indianapolis Colts, I found another solid image from the game that displays the same orange thread stitched around the under-arm to the left of the front number '8' (just as I had noticed in the images from the Atlanta game).

He most certainly did!

I was quite happy to say the very least when I saw how he nailed the definitive photomatch.

I also owe a great deal of thanks to the other board members who contacted me, who helped with the photomatch process, and who provided me with some nice high-resolution images to use as a source of reference.

I do not know all of you by your user-names, but I thank everyone for their efforts and support! :)

I also owe a great deal of thanks to the guys at JO Sports.

Robert was fantastic to work with and I appreciate his continuous efforts to make sure that I was satisfied with my purchase.

I'd also like to thank Jarrod personally for his very helpful and supportive response to the email I sent him earlier today. I forwarded him the link to this thread and told him that I had photomatched my jersey to the 11/14/10 Colts game and possibly also to the 10/24/10 Falcons game.

He told me that my jersey was attributed to the Jets game due to the label on the box when they received it.

Now that I discovered that my jersey may have been worn against the Falcons on 10/24/10 (the game Owens caught his 150th touchdown), I feel the jersey to be even more special. Jarrod was then kind enough to offer to re-certify the jersey personally if I sent it back to him along with the photomatched evidence.

I thanked him very kindly for his offer, but told him that I am more than happy to keep the jersey as-is. It has already been photomatched to the Colts game and I'm hopeful that with some more high-resolution images, I may be able to photomatch it to the Falcons game as well.

The end result: one extremely happy collector!

Thanks again to everyone at JO Sports for helping to make this incredible acquisition possible; I couldn't be happier!!!

I too am offering a 50$ reward to anyone who can photo-match my TO Bengals gamer. When I visited JO in December I had it down to the jersey in this thread and the one I eventually purchased. i went with the shirt I have because it showed a little more use. The jersey I have is labeled "2010 season". I have not been able to match it to any specific game so because this forum is so good at photo-matching lets see if we can match my TO Bengals shirt.

I need to take better, more detailed images but am posting what I have for now. Will take better pictures tonight and post them tomorrow. Whomever comes up with the definitive match will get the 50$!

I really appreciate the help with this one as I have looked through Getty and have not been able to come up with anything!

What game is the photo from? The loose thread is a great start though! If I can match some of the hits on the front and rear numbers then I know I will have a positive photo match.

If you could provide a few more images from that game showing the hits then I think a match would be easy. Even so the loose 8 thread is a real help. If it leads to a definitive match the 50$ is yours!

After looking at the AstrosGU image it appears to be a dead on match. Even the mesh inside the front 8, both top and bottom, line up perfectly! I still would love to find an image of the hit marks on front and back #s though.

What makes this jersey extremely special is that he had 10 catches for 141 yards and 2 TDs against the Steelers, on MNF, in this shirt!!! The first TD was his 150th, joining only Rice and Moss as the only WR to have over 150 TDs!

I am gonna try and find the DVD for this game and match up the hits. I wonder if the shirt was also worn in any other games after the Steelers game? It appeared to look like a new jersey at the start of the game so I doubt it was worn prior to that game.

AstrosGU-I owe you 50$!!! Let me know how you want to get paid. Jules9 also helped so 25$ to him. Email me for payment info!

If anyone else can match up any of the hits on the front or back that will be another 50$!

Looks like a pretty promising photomatch to me; congratulations!

This thread, with the help of some great fellow board members, has been fantastic as now both Owens jerseys have been photomatched.

I also have to correct one of my previous statements as I've been referring to my jersey (which I believe may have been worn against the Falcons) as possibly being the jersey Owens caught his 150th touchdown in.

He actually scored his 150th career touchdown against Atlanta, but caught his 150th touchdown reception against Pittsburgh. :)

I agree about the money part! Many many collectors email all the time asking about 49er info on various subjects and I always answer promptly and free of charge. This forum has such a great network of collectors ready and willing to help each other out that it is a pleasure to be part of it.

I am always available to answer questions regarding 49ers gamers as best I can. Anytime we can avoid a fellow collector spending $$$$ on junk then it is a win for the collecting community! There have been at least a handful of 49er gamers just in the last year that were questionable and most were exposed as such and taken off auction sites. Some were not taken down such as the 1994 Rice sold by Mile High Auctions that was supposedly worn against the Chiefs. This shirt was such an obvious fake that it was hard not to laugh at it. Still a unwitting collector paid over 2K for it!

When we help each other we all help ourselves and the collecting community. That being said I still offer a finders fee to anyone that lines up the sale of a 49er shirt I am looking for. I am always grateful when I am able to add to the collection and help another collector out financially, especially when they are the one who got the 2 parties together.

Again Jules9 thanks much! I really appreciate the help and it is a great match and an even better jersey. AstrosGU can still collect if he so desires and just because Jules9 did not I will always honor an offer I make.

I did contact Robert at JO who sold me the shirt and asked about re-labeling it. I should know tomorrow.

Yeah soloarity always good to help the hobby. Theres nothing wrong with photo match fees and finders fees because I know when and if I do collect money from a finders fee/photo match the money will 100% be going towards a jersey for my personal collection. So odds are I'm re-circulating the money back into a member on this board or def back into the hobby! And you never know the money I got for the finders fee, that goes towards a jersey for my collection, could be used as a finders fee all over again from the seller of the jersey I just bought. So all and all it probably will get re-circulated lol.

Just cool to see a member turn down the fees. Karma will reward him, becuase one day he may find his grail and the seller may say hey you know what instead of 2 grand just give me 1,000$. You just never know how Karma will come back to him, but it def will some strange way.

The "juice" or the fee that these auction houses charge after the auction is over. I know JO charges a fee on their own jerseys which is a little weird but reality.

I don't know what you paid for your TO but I paid close to (a little bit more) what the jersey sold if you include the 20% buyers premium.
