What year did Rawlings (or the actual teams) start using set tags?!? I have a '77 Rangers jersey with a "Set 1" tag but my '75 Rangers jersey doesn't have one. Does this mean that they used more than one road or home jersey for that season?!? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Roger

Roger,

If it is any help, the Mets started using Rawlings in 1972, and the first couple of years did not have the SET # in the tagging. The 1974s and later do have the SET #. I don't think that this helps you, as you have a 75 without...
Are your 75 and 77 made by the same manufacturer? This could be the reason for the variation. For example, in 1977, the Mets used both Rawlings and Goodman. The Rawlings jerseys had the SET # tag, and the Goodman jerseys did not.

Earliest set tag I've seen on a Rawlings is '73, on an Angels jersey I own.

In '73, Rawlings switched to solid red tags; tags in prior seasons featured a white vertical stripe containing the jersey size in compressed numerals. (Sorry, don't have pix...)

I have a few 1972 home and road knits from the Angels with Rawlings flag tags including the set number. These were a one year only style jersey for the Angels.

I have a 1973 Pete Rose Home rawlings jersey that has the set 1,1973 tag.
