For $250.00 you can buy this jersey. A real beauty.....

What's wrong with it?

A) No name plate and (B) it has a 1998 Inaugural Season patch. Canseco started with the Devil Rays in 1999.... (C) Did Canseco wear a 48? Seems like a 48 would be really tight on him??? The size is really irrelevant due to the first two points.....

The jersey has the 1998 Inaugural patch and the seller lists it as a 1999.

I emailed the seller, who has a lot of nice stuff. No response yet.
This jersey has been for sale for a while....

This is suspicious...

Jose Canseco played for Tampa Bay in 1999 and the first half of 2000. Tampa wore inaugural patches in 1998 only. There should be a nameplate too as you noted.

Also, if it's game used, shouldn't there be some team markings under the jock tag? And no tag in the collar?

I would not touch this jersey

Seller never responded but did pull the auction. Jersey is no longer for sale. Good for the seller.

A size 48 is actually the correct size in 99 and 2000, but other than that, this jersey is just a former nice replica. The seller did have some very nice legit game used items though. I believe Canseco did start wearing a 50 once with the Yankees.

That part isn't unusual...the Devil Rays never used year/set/name tags on any of their Russell gamers (1998-2004).

That said, as stated by others, there are too many other problems to consider this.

I once had a White Sox BP jersey of Canseco obtained at the team fanfest. It was a 50.

Yes a size 50 with the white sox would be correct. Starting with the Yankees, he wore a size 50 the rest of his career.

I'm not sure....i think the burn marks look a little suspicious....

I am not sure why anyone would buy such an item??? Maybe to the seller should remove the signed number #3 and sell it by itself? But not as a game used item!

Regardless of whether it's legit or not who in their right mind would want a jersey that is burned like that?? To me that makes it virtually worthless.
