Does anyone know how they are selling those throwbacks they wore yesterday against the Dodgers? Do they have direct sales from the team & is there someone specific to contact?

Depends on who you are looking for. ;) Marc Himelstein is the Authentics manager and his phone number is (313) 471-2064. He has all the pricing and can tell you who is still available.

You mention "still available" was there a Pre-sale on those? I'm on Marc's list and don't recall seeing anything.

You didn't miss a list, but I know some player collectors don't wait for a list. So, some might be spoken for already.

Has anyone ever sent Marc an offer and if so was he willing to negotiate? I just got the price list and $400 for a coach’s uniform or $500 for a bottom end guy is crazy. I don’t purchase to re-sell but I’d like to know that I could come close to breaking even if I ever had to sell. These jerseys are like a new car, as soon as you drive if off the lot it loses a huge portion of the value. I wish he would just auction them off….if you did, Ramon Santiago’s uniform would never get anywhere close to $500.

Copa - Every price list Marc sends out gets higher and higher......it's crazy. I picked one of the 1909 throwbacks they wore in PIttsburgh two years ago in an MLB auction for about $175.00. I assume some of the big names will move but I'd be shocked if the lower end guys move at these prices.

Thanks for the replies. Does Marc have an e-mail contact that I can use to request the price list?

I have to agree that the prices are a bit much, especially for the scrubs, coaches and pitchers that didn't even pitch in the game. It doesn't make sense that they would charge $2K for a Verlander uniform that didn't see the field, and the same for Cabrera who played the entire game.

I have dealt with Msrc a few times and while the "list" prices are high I have found him receptive to offers. Typically if the items do not sell they hit MLB auctions shortly thereafter. If you are patient you can get some pretty good deals but in my mind the higher prices are the cost of the access. I mostly collect Cleveland Indians items and while they are far from the most popular team in baseball, it can be tough to find good jerseys from the current season. As a team collector, I would gladly pay for the access to good inventory from this season. Marc has to generate sufficient revenue to justify the program.

I have been down the same path with other direct team sources (JO Sports, Steiner, etc) and simply let them know where I am at on certain players and items and if the market comes around to that level I get a phone call or email. If It doesn't then I reconsider how bad I want an item. I have been looking for a Steiner Sabathia Yankees jersey but am not looking to pay $3500+ for it. Since they are able to sell them elsewhere for the same or more, I don't own one. As a fan of a team without a good direct source, I have no problem working through the channels with teams that do, though sometimes I pay more or it takes longer to get my price.

I agree with Greg about the Indians not having a good outlet. It's funny that one of the jerseys I have been looking for is a TBTC jersey from when they played in Cleveland a few years back. I checked with Marc and was told that both team's jerseys stayed in Cleveland. Then got nowhere with the team...

It's odd that the Tigers were able to sell these jerseys rather than the Dodgers. In the past, I have bought other city's Negro League jerseys from the Tigers. On the flip side, I bought my 1909 Tigers jerseys from the Pirates.
