The Diamondbacks' #2 pick in the amateur draft, #7 overall, was at the game last night. Talk about a really nice kid! A couple of the players usually come over after BP and sign, but last night no one did - except for Archie, who was there in civvies, with his parents, just hanging out on the field. He came over and was just as friendly and respectful of the fans as anyone could possibly be. Signed a lot of baseballs and caps, and chatted with people. Hard to believe he's only 18 - he's got a much more mature attitude and presence. Reportedly, he's still on the fence between signing to play pro Baseball and playing college football in Oklahoma. Fishing for a clue, I asked him if they planned to have him play in the Summer League that starts next Tuesday, and he said, "Well, we've got this contract to settle, but if we do, that's the plan." Here's hoping.
