Minnesota Twins outfielder Tony Oliva was one of the game's greatest hitters during the 1960's, leading the League in hits on four separate occasions and winning consecutive batting titles in 1964 and 1965. Selected to the All-Star team in each of his first eight seasons in the League Oliva retired in 1976 with a .305 average and 1,917 hits.

Presented is 33", 34-1/2-oz. H&B game bat used by Tony Oliva in the mid-1960's. The signature model "K55" bat is composed of top quality white ash and features deep and distinct manufacturer's stampings throughout. Oliva's legendary hitting skill is evidenced by the countless deeply embedded ball and lace marks, swelled grain on the hitting surface, grain checking along the reverse of the barrel. An extremely scarce and early Oliva game bat used by the former American League batting champ during one of the most productive periods of his career. K55 on the knob, the bat is NOT cracked but shows signs of some deadwood from repeated ball strikes.

Oliva was selected as the 1964 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1964_in_baseball) Rookie of the Year (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MLB_Rookie_of_the_Year_Award) by a near-unanimous decision, receiving 19 of 20 first-place votes.

I obtained this bat in a trade from a Twins collector who was very old. He has since passed and I am not sure the story. I know he went to many of the games and spring training. I do not know what E.O.C means, so if you do, please share.

I am only asking 125 shipped for this bat or best offer. email me at jclewis19 at comcast.net.
