I'm fairly new to the hobby, and I'm afraid my stay may be limited. The amount of misrepresentation in this field is unbelievable. I don't know how you guys can stand it. I don't think I have the patience to do the necessary research on every item ... or the stomach to tolerate the lies.

Case in point, there are a couple of good looking football items currently offered by Lelands. But, the Singletary jersey has already been questioned here (http://www.gameuseduniverse.com/vb_forum/showthread.php?t=31145&page=85). And, based on previous GUU threads, the Marino helmet (http://www.lelands.com/Auction/AuctionDetail/66696/June-2011-Catalog/Sports/Football/Lot1025~Dan-Marino-Signed-Game-Worn-Helmet) (a VSR-1, I think) is almost certainly not as described.

There are threads like this one (http://www.gameuseduniverse.com/vb_forum/showthread.php?p=213929) that say Lelands is among the best. Yet their description of the Marino helmet is laughable. Can someone really type this with a straight face?

The Hall of Famer wore this Miami Dolphins helmet during a game in the early '90s and it shows light but definite use. Marino signed and gifted this to a young boy after a game.

Comments please. Thanks.

Bad items will slip by every auction house from time to time. Some places choose to handle the situation better than others when someone informs them of the bogus item. The last REA auction when those Yankees jerseys were questioned they looked into the items and pulled them. There are some places that will let the items sell.

An answer is everyone makes makes, but the good sellers make far fewer and properly address errors when they come up.
