i saw an item i wanted and it had a nice bin price, but i missed it and now the item has bids. it looks to me that one or more bidders is raising the price to more than what the bin price was.

is there a way i can find out who is possibly shilling this item? i would like to have it but won't pay crazy money for it above what the original price was.

there is no way to determine this unfortunately

Sometimes in hindsight, the BIN price would have been a good deal. Maybe there's shill bidding going on here, or maybe not... All I know is I have seen this happen before and it seemed legit to me.

I have items on eBay opening bid $17.50 Buy-It-Now for $19.50. Opening bidder put in a bid of $20.00!

Go figure.

I once listed a poster with an opening bid of around $15 and a BIN of $19. Two bidders eventually squared off and it ended at $76. This was back before the IDs were hidden, but it would surely look shady now...even though it wasn't.

exactly what a thought would happen did. i won the item for more than the bin price!
but it a nice item. i'll just sell something to make up the difference.
