Here is another "dual branded Bicentennial bat" currently up for auction that has made the rounds:

and the description:

"You are bidding on a vintage 1976 Joe Morgan H&B Bicentennial S44 game bat. This bat came right out of Morgan's rack, exhibits no use with just only a few small, green rack marks. Measures 34.5 inches & has Morgan's #8 marked on the knob. *Matches Morgan's factory ordering records! Comes with a COA from Sports Investments Inc, we GUARANTEE the bat will pass MEARS or Taube Authentication!"

This bat was originally listed in the Lelands 12/2002 auction as lot 1310

http://www.lelands.com/Auction/AuctionDetail/10645/December-2002/Sports/Bats/Lot1310~1976-Joe-Morgan-Game-Bat-(34_25%E2%80%9D)

and described as "this beautiful game bat was not used". There is no mention of #8 on the knob in the lelands auction (and they were very careful about such descriptions in this auction). Now this bat has #8 on the knob in a very worn way. I cannot say with absolute certainty that the #8 was added somewhere along the way,but it is very unlikely it was there at the Lelands auction and why would it be faded and apparently worn off when the rest of the bat is absolutely pristine.

Compare the Lelands picture and the new auction picture, and note that the grain is an exact match.

There has not been a legitimate game used dual branded Bicentennial bat surface in the last 36 years, and it is not likely that it will start anytime soon. It has become an amusing recreational activity watching the ebb and flow of these bats.

The following response was received from the seller after he received the information above:

Mike-
Thank you for your insight. This bat was brought into our store & purchased by us from a local collector. We will eventually re-list with a revised description that will include this updated information.
Thanks again!
Adam

It appears that the seller, sportsinvestments, is taking a positive, appropriate position. Kudos.
