Orlando Cabrera cracked Rawlings bat MLB authentic from game 1 ALCS vs. New York Yankees. This was the first playoff game at the new Yankee stadium. Also, I am 99.9% positive that it is the same bat he used the day before to hit the go ahead HR in the #163 game of the season verse Detroit!!! So now I have the bat, and the helmet used in the "famous" #163 game!

Orlando Cabrera 2007 Angel's batting helmet. HAMMERED with tar/use. In the back there is a slight colorization roughly 2" in length from being hit with something.?

I will have someone hopefully post pictures for me sometime soon!

Also acquired two more Canseco Homerun bats. #412 and #413. I now have #400, #412, #413, and maybe the last Homerun he ever hit in the majors. An Expos bat used to hit a homerun in spring training 2002. I also have the bats he used in the episode of Pros vs Joes he was on. He only used one in the HR derby on the show and Ive photomatched my bat to it and I have a COA from Canseco for all of these bats.

Just won this, so pretty happy. Zack Crockett signed, game issued cleat. Game issued was actually the key for me here, as I felt comfortable with the lower price and was able to match this style of cleat due to his custom embroidery (shown below). Will hopefully be getting it authenticated and signed in person next ABL season (November) but in the mean time would love it if any Brewers fans had some pictures of Dave Nilsson in 1995-1996 to try and photomatch this helmet. Closest I have got is some baseball cards, but need bigger resolution scans of them.

The helmet has an 11 (1995) underneath his 14 (1996)...could have been used for multiple years, 1996 was his second best season at Milwaukee.

Not game used or issued, but a rare pick up for me nonetheless; an autograph I did not get in person. Brent Grimes signed mini Pro Bowl helmet. I like it because being from NFL Auctions, it is guaranteed authentic. Second, the Pro Bowl colors are the same as Brent and I's Alma mater at Shippensburg University. Since they do not sell replica helmets of Shipp, next best thing! Will look nice next to my John Kuhn Shipp auto'd baseball cap.

Even more rare, from a player I have never met. Only other persons/item that fits this description is my Derrick Williams/Michael Robinson duel autographed mini helmet from Penn State (my first Alma mater). TMI, I'm sure :p.

Thanks Dave, and I'm with you on that one. (Family Guy references always welcomed too)
He ordered that bat in both years, so I tried to check variations in bat rack streak colors, with Crosley Field being black and Memorial being dark green (at least from what I researched) The bat seems to show some of both, but not really prominently.
The other Robinson bat I have pictured below I pinpointed to the '66 MVP year with Baltimore, most likely, as it is covered with the green bat rack streaks all over the bat.
I think Frank Robinson is one of the underrated players of all time, IMHO.

I have picked up my white whale of bats this month....after months of negotiating and patience from the seller I was able to acquire a 2007 Dustin Pedroia game used bat which is uncracked and is absolutely pounded with use. The bat is mlb and steiner authenticated and is the new centerpiece of my bat collection. Shout out to Kelly for making this possible for me!!!:D

Looking at the photo you have there, the number running into the Cooper name looks pretty close. It appears there is some writing in black marker on the palm of the left hand glove, adjacent to the thumb, possibly his number 23 again. Hard to see in your photos of it is there or not but it looks like it might be there in your first photo

Unfortunately that is the way it goes in China. I work in the music business and one of the artists i work with endorses a guitar company that is Japanese owned. Much like an athlete endorses a shoe company, except the dollar figure is much lower. The company reps have told me that Chinese farmers have realized it is more profitable to get rid of their crops and animals and knock off guitars instead. The counterfeit issue is so wide spread there and their aren't any local laws to stop them. The meigray tag looks relatively easy to produce. if they can counterfeit a guitar, how easy must it be to knock off a piece of clothing and a tag?

I know this is not a game used item.But its so rare i get to post in the "pick up" thread.And for the wrestling fans out there i thought i would share this.Me and my brother thursday night went to a book signing for the road warrior "animal" new book.He was one half of one of the best tag teams ever.It was a honor to meet him as i am a old school wrestling fan.As that whole jon cena "you cant see me" catch phrase, selling merchandise, and looking good is better than being good style of wrestling now days just is not entertaining to me....Anyways,animal was so nice,signed our book and even signed the chairs we brought for him to sing and then posed for photos.He did a little q&a before the signing and all the questions were boring like a kid asking him if he had ever wrestled jon cena? And i didnt want to ask the whole room my question so i waited until i got up there.And he was very polite and took the time to ansewer it.I was just really impressed by how nice he was.And he is doing another signing next thursday here and we are going to bring the photos of me and him together and have him sign them.Anyways,heres the photo of the chair.I know most could careless but i had a great time so thought i would share.And to quote the late great "hawk" (the other half of the road warriors-"AHHHH,WHAT A RUSH!!!!"......

I agree with both of you. I have worked with JO sports and specifically Robert on a number of ocassions. I love working with them and giving them my business. I knew they did great service but i recently had a horrible horrible encounter with a business owner with nothing involving this but it just makes me appreciate these guys that much more and the drive they have to make sure i am happy. There were a few times i didn't have to much to spend but asked Robert what i could get for my money and he helped me and gave me some great choices and was really patient while i made up my mind. I will never speak bad about them except they somehow always get me to say yes and spend my money(which isn't to bad lol). I don't mind dealing with other boardies if i know they are great collectors and take of their stuff like i would. Just my 2 cents about JO and the rest of it.

That is one EXCELLENT Jensen bat!!:D :D The guy had a unique career. With Ted Williams as a teammate, he stood out well enough in 1958 to win the AL MVP award. A few years later, he was out of the Majors because of his acute fear of flying. He was an excellent autograph signer by mail, but died rather young.

Ryan- a few of us were watching this auction and could not believe the final price tag, congrats on the pick up. Question, how does the wash tag look inside use wise? It was hard to tell on the auction because the letters looked fresh and new while the property tag was washed away. Congrats again!

That's a very interesting Hanshin Tigers jersey you have there.
Its actually a high-end replica made to look like the jersey
that "Hanagata Mitsuru" from an IMMENSELY popular Japanese
baseball anime "Kyojin No Hoshi" (Star of the Giants) wore.

I don't know much details about the anime since it was before
my time, but its popular enough that when you search "Hanagata Mitsuru"
images on Yahoo Japan you get over 8000 images!

Klaus Wilmsmeyer 1994 gamer. This shirt has a funny story behind it as it was supposed to be given to KW's father at the end of the game but it "disappeared" from the locker room after the game. KW was mad as his dad was at the game and wanted his sons jersey. The team had to make up another and gave it to him the next home game.

Intriguing Steve Young gamer...I don't think I've ever seen a jersey with a total body length tag before (as opposed to the normal 1 or 2 or whatever inches of extra length).

Dave it is quite intriguing about the tags. The other Young gamer he had was also an away shirt and was worn against the Saints. It had a nice repair. The flag tag read "44" "FY" and next to that was "2 inches" and under that was "extra short". The seller wanted to keep the shirt with the repair but both were very cool. Each had the "Bronco Hinek "tape, team letter and evidence of nice QB use.

My friend and fellow 49er collector was kind of enough to part with 12 1986-1993 49ers gamers. All showed good use, repairs and all were autographed. I would be extremely surprised if anyone else could come up with Dwight Hicks and his Hot Licks (Eric Wright, Lott, Williamson), Charles Haley, Tom Rathman and Roger Craig as the shirts are just not out there.

When MLB began slope testing on maple bats in spring training 2009, the test area had to be exposed, natural wood -- so you didn't see any all-black bats for most of 2009. Late in the season, you started seeing black bats again with little test windows.

Where do you find all these Youngs? You have an amazing Young collection.

Legal-been collecting Young and Niners shirts for almost 20 years. Even had 2 more Young shirts with team letters that i sold years ago! Dumb but thats life. The Niners sold shirts from 1992-1995 thru MOS and via Dick Dobbins and since i lived in SF i knew both dealers well. I used to look thru all of Mike Weiss's shirts as he got em in. In fact i remember buying a Deion 94 gamer for cheap that he couldnt sell for months! Now try and find one with team letter! The 49er Fan Club also sold shirts and i remember buying a 95 Young for 500$ with player letter, that i later sold. I have been lucky too, meeting certain collectors that really helped me link up with the "in" crowd of game used 49er shirts way back in the mid 90s. There were years that i didnt buy much and missed a fair amount of great shirts but i think that holds true with everyone.

Just looking back thru old AMI and HA auctions and seeing the shirts sold makes me cringe sometimes. Things come around though. Many years ago i owned a Stubblefield shirt that was eventually in Roger Gibson's collection and made it back to mine via a Grey Flannel Auction. I hope many of the shirts i sold years ago make it back to me !

Collecting the pre 2000 superstars is only getting harder and more risky as fakes are ubiquitous which is such a shame. To me you have to spend the $$$ for the real deal but also do your homework on every purchase. There was a 1997 Young that i bought for only 1500$ due to the "lost" team letter. No one bid but it was easily photo-matched so sometimes you get a lucky break.

I have two more SY 94 shirts on the way! Problem is always paying for this stuff. It is almost like a house payment and i know i will never get what i paid for if i ever sold. I buy because i like the players etc. I have become very selective with more recent shirts as there is always another around the corner as they wear one a game. Gone are the days of 30 repairs etc. A shame but reality.

Also more and more classic shirts are being cut up thus driving up the price and making them more scarce. Try find a Montana gamer that is real these days. No way. You are in competition with Panini and UD for the shirts and they have the $ so the collector loses.

Thanks Dave, it's quickly become one of my favorite jerseys. I've been trying to add one jersey from each team that played in the late 70's to early 80's.

This has been my winter project. All 3 MVP years. Took 3 months but they all got here this month. The top bat is an 05 Raul Gonzalez model used by Pujols with team letter. Middle bat is an 08 and the bottom is an 09 with 8 and counting photomatches to the last home series of 09 and game 1 of the 09 nlds and bp before all 3 games of the nlds. Not the best picture taker yet so the angle is why they look different sizes. The 09 is a GU10 from the 12/4 signing and absolutely hammered. A big thanks to all who helped photomatch Jeff, Tim, Rick, Bert, Andrew, and Bob. Now just need to find a nice 01 rookie. Anyone?
