Ollie Matson, a running back who played for 4 teams over 15 years, died at age 80. He died from respiratory failure, and had suffered from a form of dementia for several years.

Matson was the first draft pick of the Chicago Cardinals in 1952, and he starred for the South Side Chicago NFL squad through 1958. In the offseason, he was swapped to the Rams for NINE players. He played for the Rams from 1959-62, spent 1963 with the Lions, and then finished off with three season as an Eagle, the last of which was 1966.

He is a member of both the Pro and College Halls of Fame.
