Does anyone know or can someone post McGwire's bat records for 1997...the A's part of 1997? Thanks.

Hi Aaron--

Here are two excellent resources for Mcgwire game used bat information:

http://www.mcgwire.com/randall/bats/bats1.html

http://webpages.charter.net/birdbats/Birdbats/Notes%20and%20Articles/McGwire%20bat%20buyers%20guide.htm

Thanks Randall (www.McGwire.com (http://www.McGwire.com)) and Jeff (www.BirdBats.com (http://www.BirdBats.com))

Hope this helps...Good Luck

Hi, do you own a 1997 mcgwire game used bat?

No, I don't own one but saw one but it only had two numbers in the batch number instead of three and I was suspect because they usually have three numbers.

Was this bat you saw for sale? Did you find it on the internet?

Yeah, it was on EBay and ended yesterday, didnt bid on it though. The thing that threw me off was that it had only 2 numbers for the batch number and usually, from my understanding, they have 3...example 174 97 for batch number and year...the year was fine but batch number only had 2 numbers.

To my eye, it looks like the "1" in the batch number didn't strike dead on when the bat was manufactured. It looks like there is a very light "1" in front of the 74.
I've noticed the same sort of problem with a couple of the Rawlings bats in my own collection.

Hi again, I no you said the auction ended I was wondering if you still had the ebay address so that I can look at it. Thanks, Matt

The bat looks good to me. Not game used, but game issued to Mac and the signature looks perfect. "cards-bats" made a comment about the 1 (meaning that there is a lightly stamped 1 in front of the 73 that is hard to discern). I cannot confirm or reject this from looking at the scans, but this is possible, and would make this batch number the usual three digits. You'll see this from time to time on knobs of Rawlings bats where the stamps are not all even (sometimes not aligned perfectly and sometimes not equally deep). There is also some unusual damage to the knob and large portions of the barrel markings are missing (most notably, half of Mac's last name). Overall, a nice and real Mac signed game issued bat, though.

P.S. I just noticed that Randall Hahn is the second highest bidder on the bat, which is like getting a free authentication (or virtual authentication in this case).
