When Swiss sports memorabilia collector Olivier Démoli ponied up $10K for a jersey worn by French player David Trezequet in the 1998 World Cup final vs. Brazil, the rarity of the item made the purchase worthwhile.

Enter customs workers in France with little taste for what's valuable and what's a knock-off worth burning.
"I was prepared to pay so much because those French jerseys from 98 are very hard to come across. There are only six in circulation: a ‘Zidane', a ‘Trezeguet', a ‘Desailly', a ‘Boghossian' and two ‘Guivarc'hs'.

When I went to get it they told me the shirt had been destroyed by customs because it was counterfeit. I went mad."

Yet eBay is littered with literally tens of thousands of knockoffs which arrive to poor unknowing folks every day!

If I were him, I'd have lost it.

Love how the brainless moron writing the article ends with "Aww" as if he was happy the guy just got raked over the coals. People have no respect or consideration for anything but themselves anymore. When did it become ok to be a selfish douche?
