Player Collection - Josh Phelps

I am actively collecting items related to the career of Josh Phelps. Josh previously played for the Blue Jays, Indians, Devil Rays, Tigers (Spring Training), Yankees, Pirates, Cardinals, Giants (minors), Rockies (Spring Training) and Bridgeport Bluefish.

At this point, I have 11 gameworn jerseys, 1 game issued jersey, 2 pants, 1 batting helmet, 1 locker name plate and 11 game bats of Josh's. I also have over 140 different baseball cards of his...had no idea that he would have that many!

I'll be posting pix of my collection as well as new acquistions in this thread. If you have anything related to Josh's career, please let me know as I'd love to add it to my collection. Thanks and enjoy! Matt

Very nice POST 9/11 jersey... I'd never seen an Expos or Blue Jays one - I use to have a couple of Rockies ones with the Flag.

I currently have 11 bats from six of the teams Josh played for during his career including Toronto (1), Tampa Bay (1), Detroit (1), New York (2), Pittsburgh (1) and San Francisco (4) and a generic Verdana bat he used in 2010 for the Bridgeport Bluefish. Of these, Josh has given me 6 and signed two (one Pittsburgh he gave me after breaking it in a Connecticut Defenders game and one Yankee bat he gave me for my birthday).

I'm still on the lookout for bats from Cleveland, St. Louis and Colorado (he apparently had bats made up in Spring Training).

If you're using eBay's search engine, put in "Josh Phelps" (both names) for the search, and, right below it, there's an engine that asks you if there are words you want to omit...put :Michael" there...that should eliminate 95%+ of the stuff you don't want.

That's one way, but there are a LOT of companies you'd have to name.

My own approach (doesn't omit all GU cards, but probably 85-90% of them) is to go to the search engines asking for minimum and maximum price. I enter 9.99 as the minimum (gets rid of the cheap GU cards, which means most of them), and makes it almost certain that you won't miss a genuine game used item.
For maximum amount I put in a ridiculously high number, like $200,000.

Just another approach to a genuine frustration most of us encounter on The Bay.

Josh was designated for assignment on June 7th, 2005, and was actually sent down to the minors on June 17th...the same day this jersey would have been used for their Turn Back The Clock game.
