Cookie Gilchrist, one of the greatest fullbacks in the old American Football League, pased away from cancer today. He was 75.
After playing for 6 years in the Canadian Football League, Gilchrist played for another six in the AFL. He was a member of the Buffalo Bills from 1962-64, when the Bills were perennial contenders in the league, winning the 1963 AFL MVP award. He spent 2 seasons in Denver (1965 and 1967) with a season sandwiched in between as a first-year Miami Dolphin.
