I came across a Josh Hamilton ginger ale bottle (http://auction.mlb.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ProductDisplay?prrfnbr=140516029&prmenbr=33072944&aunbr=140862739) on MLB.com Auctions. The bottle seemed like an interesting commentary on Hamilton's career and addiction issues. It's like what he didn't drink during the celebration spoke volumes about his personal story.

Would you guys buy this? I am not a Hamilton collector, but I admire and respect him and thought this was an interesting item. Anybody placing any bids?

What do you think?

Welcome back Frik!

Thanks, David. You going to bid on the ginger ale bottle? I'd love to have it, but the price is more than I am willing to pay for that item.

Unbelievable! The auction's currently going for $1270 with about eleven hours to go. It's amazing how much people will pay for a used and autographed bottle of ginger ale.

After viewing the item and the current price the word "retarded" came to mind.

While I might be a bit more PC about it, I too don't understand why this item sold for $1270. Are former and current addicts trying to live vicariously through Hamilton? That's the only thing I can come up with at this point to explain the insane price.

That is just crazy! Someone has more money than they know what to do with. They could have bought a very game used bat of JH's and had money left over......

I would love to have had it as a testimony to his sobriety...and he signed a bat for my son with the same Bible verse, BUT $1200 BUCKS FOR A PLASTIC BOTTLE? WHOA.
