Hey guys I am curious about something: the Chargers have played nine games and are 4-5 entering their bye in 3rd place in the AFC West 1.5 games behind the Chiefs. Obviously if the season ended today they would not make the playoffs. The record can be blamed on epically bad special teams play more than anything else. They have been rife with injuries and holdouts on offense. Their top receivers in their last game were a guy who was on the practice squad last year, Patrick Crayton and Randy McMichael. Yet Phillip Rivers has already thrown for close to 3,000 yards (which is 400 yards more than Brees who is his nearest competitor) He also leads the league with 19 td passes (one more than again Brees). His yardage total would shatter Marino's 20 plus year old record if he keeps up his current pace during the final seven games. So my question is is he the NFL MVP inspite of his team's record if form holds?
