Ebay auction item #8730704385

The auction is for a 1988 Paul O'Neill Reds gameworn jersey. I don't think the jersey is legit. The numbers on the front are incorrect in size and placement.

there are 2 problems with this jersey.

1) the numbers on the front are substantially larger than they should be

2) the numbers are not aligned the way they should be. in 1988 the reds,
sewed the numbers on such that the end of the numbers would
line up with the end of the word "Cincinnati" on the front. bushing's
jersey doesn't even come close.

please see my image for proof:

But does it seem consistent with the numbering on this?

Rudy,

Very nice work. This illustrates why Dave should stick to bats. Keep in mind Dave is authenticating jerseys at MEARS

Dave is authenticating jerseys for MEARS? Are you sure of that statement?

I just wonder were that statement came from.

I am not 100% positive, but I believe that Dave is authenticating jerseys now that Dan Knoll is gone...

Dan Knoll is gone? He was young, like in his mid-to late 40s or so, I am sorry for his family, I always liked Dan. Anyone know what happened?

Readers-
I'm happy to inform you that Dan is in great health and quite happy. I spoke with hm last week, and like myself, he is spending more time with his family and less with the hobby.

Good to know some of us have our priorities in order, and more important, Dan is just fine.

Thanks Howard. I know there are a number of us who are genuinely glad to hear that Dan, and you, are both doing well.

Sincerely,
Christopher Cavalier

there is a lot of feedback exchanged between the buyer and new seller of the jersey.

The jersey last came from Bushing. With the jersey being an obvious fake and him being part of MEARS, maybe he should buy the jersey back as per their guarantee.

Now that I see it again in the new photos, the numbers on the front are glaringly wrong. My own personal opinion is that someone acquired a genuine 1988 Reds gamer of a common player and had the name and number changed to the more valuable O'Neill.
