There is a thread asking this about MLB so lets ask it about NFL! Who's your alltime favorite player? Mine are Curtis Martin and Michael Strahan. My favorite current players are Nick Mangold and Eli Manning.

If I have to pick one I have to go with Lester Hayes.

I also loved watching Earl Campbell play when I was a kid.

Otis James McDuffie. PSU Alumni: 1992 Miami Dolphins KR/PR/WR 93-00. Led the league in receptions with 90 once then got a career ending case of turf toe that he was forced to play on and killed his chances at becoming a top 10 receiver.

Jim Plunkett, the Raider restoration project of restoration projects.

After being released by San Francisco, he spends 2 seasons in Oakland as a backup. Given up for dead, he takes over for injured Dan Pastorini in 1980 and wins the Super Bowl, being named the game's MVP.

Back to the trash heap, until Marc Wilson is injured in 1983, and again Plunkett (who'd have thunk it) takes over and leads the Raiders to another Super Bowl victory.

Plunkett is in my mind the best example of not quitting, even when things look hopeless. Not to mention, he's a great guy.

All-Time: Joe Namath/George Sauer (tie) ... I loved this connection in the '60s.

Current: Eli Manning ... In my opinion, the most underrated player in the NFL. I'm not a stats guy, and I know, I know, he's not the most accurate ... I just love watching him win FB games. Just love watching him operate an offense under pressure late in game. Later the game, more the pressure, cooler and more effective he is.

John Jefferson - have never seen another WR quite like him. Too bad he didn't stick with the Chargers...Jerry Rice would've been trying to break JJ's records. I didn't realize there were a few other JJ fans on here. I have only seen 1 game used jersey of his up for auction (a Packers one). But, that was before I started collecting and visiting this site. Does anyone have any of his stuff? If so, I'd love to see pics.

All time-Dan Marino of course! Too bad he just couldn't get that ring!

Current-Cameron Wake. Great story. Undrafted free agent out of Penn State. Signed by the Giants in 2005 and released a month later. Played in the CFL for a few years and then given another opportunity to play in the NFL and making a big name for himself! Gotta love it!

Current favorite player is Roddy White (from my alma mater of UAB and playing for my favorite team).

Chuck Bednarik - If Chuck played today, can you imagine the fine he would have gotten had the Gifford hit occurred today? He'd probably be banned from football for life.

By far the best all around team to ever step on the field.

Lawrence Taylor - grew up going to Giants games and watching the All-Time greatest linebacker. Michael Strahan is a close second.

Current player is Eli Manning. Like Barry said, he doesnt get the respect he deserves.

Derrick Thomas

then...

Gale Sayers
Joe Montana
Jerry Rice

and my off the radar guy...

Dale Carter in his early years with the Chiefs - if only he had an ounce of maturity and had his head been screwed on straight.
