Hey guys i recently picked up this posada bat and the tape job is weird. I have only known posada to use a criss-cross style taping job. Anybody know if he ever used this kind of tape on his bats? please help

Probably not used by Posada.

Defintiely not used by Posada and the coloring og the wood on the bat looks a bit odd.

When or what year is the bat supposed to be from?

Wow than thats an absolute first I ever seen Posada have a tape job like that. Makes me wonder if maybe he had someone else do it for him? Or if that black bat was his?

That first bat in the post, I would have doubts on Posada having used it. However, I do have a Posada that matches those Getty images with the black bat. While you can't see it in those photos because of the distance, at least on the bat I have, Posada's normal crisscross tape job using thin tape was applied and then was covered with a layer of wider tape over the whole thing. While I don't think he did it very long, he definitely did it as the Getty images show. Here's the tape on mine....

I can see the criss cross pattern under the tape as well. If you look at the handle picture the spyral pattern under the tape is clearly visible

The tape job appears consistant with other Posada gamers. The tape should be approximately 6" to 7" in length. Post a close-up photo of the pine tar application.

tape is 7" in length......

Assuming the bat is the correct length and weight, the bat is good. There should also be an outline of the criss-cross tape job showing through the outer tape.

Yeap the criss-cross pops through the outer tape. That sounds great, i took a shot in the dark and hit! when i picked this bat up i bought it thinking it was possible but unlikely because of the tape but i guess its true in this case to do some homework because just like the lottery slogan states "hey......ya never know"
