Im biassed but i have to go with feliz. How many games has Jackson won with his bat? More than 20+ of his saves have come in one run games. Without him the rangers wouldnt have one as many games as they have. He also pitches in one of the best hitters parks in baseball. He's dominant and other teams fear him.

295 batting average 4 homeruns and 37 rbi's and 160+ k's those numbers dont exactly wow you. Feliz is a shutdown closer and jackson looks like a bit piece on a bad team. I know ESPN has hyped him up but those numbers wouldnt strike fear into many AL pitchers.

I would vote Feliz. Jacksons 161 strike outs is bad especially for a leadoff man.

MLB.com has a poll regarding this question as I write this. Feliz leads at 37%, with Jackson at 34%, and other players garnering 20% or less. For the record, I voted for Feliz.

Only nine rookies in the common era, that's since 1901, have been able to reach all of those marks. Those players are: Shoeless Joe Jackson (1911), Roy Johnson (1929), Evar Swanson (1929), Barney McCosky (1939), Minnie Minoso (1951), Juan Samuel (1984), Nomar Garciaparra (1997), and Hanley Ramirez (2006). I would go with Feliz. Jackson has a good average, but way to many strikeouts.

You forgot to mention that he leads the league in strikeouts. That wouldnt be too bad if he were a power hitter and not a leadoff hitter.

I wonder if some even those in the media who come up with some of the award winner picks actually watch games and keep track of stats. ROY is a stats based award. Always has been always will be. Jackson has been overhyped because he was a yankee prospect who like all yankee tradechips uh prospects is talked about as the next Mickey Mantle. He is a good fielder and has good speed but the rest of his game needs alot of work. Four home runs is a pathetic total for any major league regular outfielder, especially a "five tool" one as he has been touted as. He has 39 RBIs again a pathetic total for any major league regular. He has 162 whiffs verus 45 walks a ratio like that is pathetic for any hitter even more so for a lead off hitter. Yes he has a decent .ba (keep in mind he is over 60 points behind Hamilton in the batting race so that is why I say decent rather than good or great or high) which he should have as a speed guy who hits groundballs most of the time. He reminds me alot of Juan Pierre. If you have a fantasy league team you love him for his steals, runs scored and average but his other flaws prevent him from ever being anything special and he ends up bouncing around the league.

Feliz meanwhile has been amazing for a 22 year old closer pitching in one of the greatest hitters parks in baseball. He has more strikeouts than innings pitched and 38 saves in 41 chances (which would be great for any closer let alone a rookie). So to me it should not even be a discussion on who should be ROY.

I think it is hard to compare an infielder to an outfielder plus Beckham does not have the speed and ability to hit for average that Jackson does but he has more power. IMO Juan Pierre is the perfect comparison so much so that it is eerie:

1. Both began their career as centerfielders
2. Both hit close to .300 with alot of stolen bases and close to 200 hits with 90 plus runs.
3. Both exhibit almost zero power and knock in very few runs.
4. Both are among the few active players who hit alot of triples.
5. Both were low round draft picks.

The main difference is Pierre is a great contact hitter who rarely strikes out and Jackson whiffs constantly but that may improve as he gets experience.
