I notice Posey is getting a lot of national pub. If the Giants can win the division I think he'll be a lock for the award, especially if the Braves don't make the playoffs.

I agree, I think its a lock. Not only is he hitting great, he's catching one of the best pitching staffs in baseball. The giants surged in the second half with him as a full time catcher.

Agreed...he does seem to be pulling away in this race (Sorry, Starlin:( ).

As Joe Morgan says on every Sunday night baseball. Jason Heyward has a slight edge in the fact that he was up winning games and hitting walk offs while Posey was still in the minors. The playoffs will make a difference, but right now the Giants aren't really in any better shape than the Braves.

Are you kidding the Giants are in a much better position than the Braves. They are leading the division and tied for wild card. They have two shots to get in and the Braves have one. Plus the Braves have been falling. Posey plays a much more demanding position and is calling pitches. I wouldn't say Heyward is a stellar outfielder. Even with the east coast bias, Posey is your ROY!

Joe Morgan also says that Ryne Sandberg doesn't deserve to be in the Hall of Fame, and has voted against Ron Santo being there...his arrogance far exceeds his expertise.

Jason Heyward is an excellent defensive outfielder. Buster Posey is great and he probably deserves the ROY, but in the end I think the hype surrounding Heyward and the extra time in the bigs will make a big difference. Especially when looking at the fact he made the All Star team. As for the Giants playoff push they do have two chances to get in, you are right, but it really just comes down to who wins the most out of the last 10 games. The Braves only have 3 games against teams with a winning record where as the Giants have 6.

And the Braves are getting it handed to them by the mighty Nats. Big slump and Heward has done zippo.

You don't have to convince me I am a Braves fan and I know they suck. I am not a voter for ROY I am just stating my opinions. Heyward since August 20th has raised his batting average 30 points. I think that is pretty significant. I would rather see Posey get it so I can get some Heyward items when the hype dies down.

ROY is not about team success so who has better shot at playoffs is irrelevant. The Marlins have done nothing in the past five years and had two ROYs in that time. The As had last years ROY and they stunk. If you go by stats like most do: Buster is a catcher, hits .323 16, 64 with 120 hits in 99 games. Heyward has played 133 games and is an outfielder hitting .285 with 18 hrs, 71 rbis and 138 hits. So in 34 less games Buster has two less homers, 7 less RBIs and 18 less hits while he outhits him by close to 40 points. I can't see the case for Heyward over that.

As hard as it is for me to admit, I think Posey has it wrapped up. Heyward had many bright spots throughout the season, but had his inconsistencies. Even though he missed games due to injury and played through being hurt on several occasions, he just didn't perform as well as Posey.

Ya posey has it locked up. Heyward had a good year, but when posey got called up he was on fire. not to mention how well he is doing in te playoffs and how bad heyward did

playoffs have absolutely no bearing on regular season awards- all voting is submitted before the playoff start

I believe that Posey will win the award.

I want Posey to win and think he deserves it by far the most but Heyward will win it because it does not factor in playoffs (the voting concluded before they began) and Heyward had much, much more national hype.

Posey should and will win the NL ROY honors as he was the best in the regular season. Heyward will win the Sporting News NL Rookie of the year honors. Heyward did go to the All Star game, but that is not enough.

Solid picks with Feliz and Posey. When was the last time both ROY had their teams in the World Series?

The voting wasnt even close on both accounts. I figured it would have been closer.

I actually thought that it was fairly close. I'm happy with both selections. I would have been fine with Posey or Heyward in the N.L. and Jackson or Feliz in the A.L. All players had great years and I'm excited to see what they do next year.

I saw that. Posey got 20 out of 32 first place votes, and Feliz was top choice of 20 out of 28 A.L. writers.
