Hey Guys-

Have the opportunity to purchase a "Schmidt Gamer," however since I am still a rookie in the collecting world I am hoping I can pick your brain. What do you guys think of this? Any and all feedback would be much appreciated.

Tags look right, and Schmidt was a size 42 early in his career. Can you post pics of the back, so we can see the presence/status of a name on back?

You might need to wait for people to wake up first :)

Hey Guys-

I still need some help with this. The person selling it is showing it to me tonight in person and I would like to take it off his hands, however I need more opinions before I spend this kind of money. All opinions are needed. Any reason why the SCHMIDT Nameplate would not be on the back? Thanks so much!

I'm certainly no expert on Phillies jerseys, but the lack of NOB could just mean it was recycled thru the Phils' minor league system. What you want to do is a member search for member "hblakewolf"..he was at one time the greatest asset these boards had regarding Phillies equipment and jerseys as he had purchased hundreds of jerseys direct from the team.If you look at some of his early posts you should find all the info you need on mid 70's Phils jerseys regarding the proper Wilson tags, set tagging, even the chainlink font the name in the neck is done in,and the shiny-like material the inner neck of the jersey should be made of.Good luck..

Thanks Joe! I have reached out to Mr. Wolf so we will see what says. Hopefully he is quick in getting back to me.

David-

Any updates on your opinion?

Yeah:

Inside stitch pattern looks consistent and well used.

Lack of nameplate is likley from being recycled in the minors...the evident wear on the jersey is more than would be garnered by most major leaguers in one season.

I think you've got a winner.

Hey Guys-

Wanted to reach out and thank Mr. Howard Wolf for taking the time out of his busy schedule to answer all of my many questions regarding the Schmidt jersey. At the same time, I found an awesome Tug McGraw jersey for sale and Howard walked me through authenticating the jersey before buying it. Major thanks to Howard and his always great information!
