I recently picked up the following Tony Perez game used Bi-centennial bat.

Bat originates from a very respectable source. One of the questions I have is what would the bat potentially grade. After considerable research and comparison to other 1976 bats; most noticeably in the MEARS database, I came up with the following. Base grade +5, use +3, provenance +2 (Reds 580 gift shop tape on the handle), uniform number +1, pinpoint record +.5, crack -.5. All of these numbers again are based on previous grades documented in the MEARS database. WOW, my bat should grade an 11. Now wait a minute, the best grade is a 10. Which begs the question, how do you grade a bat that has multiple positive attributes such as this 1976 Perez Bi-centennial bat? Can a cracked bat grade a perfect 10? Seems as though there is considerable subjectivity in grading a bat when so many characteristics are taken into consideration.
