I have one or more Ivan Rodriguez Louisville Sluggers with the team name on the barrel for every team he has played for except the Houston Astros. I have a Louisville Slugger that is photo matched to an at bat by Rodriguez in a Houston uniform but the bat does not have a team name on the barrel. Did you make any bats for Ivan Rodriguez that had the team name on the barrel while he was at Houston or were his bat made without the team name. I have never seen an Ivan Rodriguez Louisville Slugger with the Houston team name on the barrel although you see them for all the other teams he has played for.The reason I am asking is that I will cease my search if they don't exist. Thanks.

I can partially answer. Pudge signed with the Astros as a free agent on 3/20/2009. As you recall, Pudge played in the 2009 WBC. While he was "teamless," bats were still being made for him with no team associated. I had a few 2009 Spring Training and early 2010 bats that Pudge used that were date stamped 2/2009 on the knob and said "Louisville Slugger" below his signature model.

Ironically, the first bat that Pudge cracked in 2009 regular season was against Pittsburgh. That bat was made post his signing and says Houston Astros.

I have a few Pudge bats that say Houston Astros and I will post pics later!

As a side note, Miguel Tejada was a big fan of Pudge bats. Many MLB authenticated 2009 Pudge bats are attributed to being used by Miggi. I even witnessed Pudge, Miggi, and Berkman using the same bat in BP prior to games, and then Pudge and Miggi using in the game. Crazy!

Hope this helps!

Brian,

Can you let us know how many Pudge bats were shipped to the Astros from 3/20/2009 through 8/18/2009 when he was traded to TX Rangers. I am curious how many Astros stamped bats he ordered and in what model numbers. I have handled both Maple and Ash bats in multiple color combos (all black, two tone black/natural, two tone brown/red, etc).

Thanks,

Two Pudge 2009 Astros Bats.

First - Ash R226 photomatched to 4/13/2009 vs. Pittsburgh. Awesome thing about this bat is that it is stamped 3/20/2009, the day that Pudge signed his contract with the Astros. It has to be one of the first bats ever made with Astros stamped.

Second - Maple R249 photomatched to 7/28/2009 vs. Chicago. Insane use! MLB Authenticated. Bat is stamped 5/28/2009.

Looks to be 14 dozen bats.
R226, C271L, H270, R249, R249C, P72, and C271

One thing to remember is Pudge is one of the nicest guys to play the game. He will buy backs and send them back home for younger guys to use. This year he's been buying a lot for non-contract players.
