I've been looking for a nice Manny "Carolina Clubs" model to add to the collection for some years now and finally got one.

A couple hours ago I received a pretty cool bat from John Taube to add to my Manny collection. Some of you may have seen it on his site.... a 1993 game-ready Louisville Slugger bat matched to order records from that same year. It's the same model bat seen on some Manny's rookie cards back when he was sporting a #59 jersey. Thanks to JT for working out a nice deal.

Just received my first 2 NFL purchases. Not from my team (Vikings) but I spotted these two on a perusal of the NFL Auction site and bid on them for the hell of it and won, the money goes to the American Cancer Society so I thought it was worth it.

The first is a game used George Wilson, Safety from the Bills towel. I thought the black scrawling on the auction image was dirt (in the image it was folded, you couldn't see the 37) but turns out it was signed.

The 2nd is a Browns game used pink Gatorade towel, kinda a family joke as my Mom works for the Gatorade-Quaker side of Pepsi. Had a blade of turf in there which I thought was cool!

Man oh Man, do I have a post for this thread today. Working on Pics for the Webshots but I added in the last 3 days:

2007 Long Island Ducks Black #22 Atlantic League Rawlings jersey, heavyweight really well made for a true low end minors team.

Thanks to Joe who posts as eisenreich8 (http://www.gameuseduniverse.com/vb_forum/member.php?u=1950)I was able to obtain a truly sweet Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs #5 NNOB Home white. (Phillies AAA team) Awesome font, really cool patch on the shoulder showing a pig batting in full uniform.

A team issued with MeiGray paperwork #79 Blue NY Giants jersey of Bernard Holsey. The jersey si customized to team specs and I love the sewn in fabric in the chest piece. Truly amazing the difference between authentics and GI.

Lastly, I am very happy to say I just received Sami Salo's White Team Finland 2010 Olympics jersey from their game against Belarus. He player over 30 minutes, it has stick marks, board burns and small unrepaired holes. Smells like a month old hockey bag an is a size 62! but I won if with NHLPA paperwork for less than half what the Blue set went for.

Hoping to pick up something fun at the Philles/Pads game this weekend with the wife.

Just picked up this Andy Carey NY Yankees era bat tonight. Carey is another former player from my hometown so I was happy to pick up this hard to find bat to add to my collection. Not to hot on the inscription but sometimes you can't be to choosey.

Carey's claim to fame is he was the 3rd baseman on a couple of Yankees WS championship teams in the 50's and was also part of Don Larsen's perfect game.

Albert Pujols’ first St. Louis Cardinals jersey, worn for the Arizona Fall League in October 2000. Acquired from Jeff Sullivan, who had the foresight to pick it up from the commons rack at the Cardinals Winter Warm-Up in early 2001.

Per the information given to Jeff by a past AFL equipment manager, one home and one road jersey was assigned to each player (the AFL plays a couple dozen games over the span of a month), making this the jersey worn by Albert in his 2001 Bowman, Topps Finest, and Topps Reserve rookie cards.

In 2007, Albert received the Arizona Fall League Distinguished Alumni Award and his #36 was retired.

Thanks, normally I would steer clear of eBay, but after learning the seller was Jeff Sullivan and knowing Jeff Scott had given it the thumbs up on his site, it was a worry-free transaction.

I added a World Series game used Mike Schmidt bat to my collection. The others are a signed '73-'79 era Adirondack and a signed '77 H&B P89, galen finish bat.
It came with a signed letter attesting to it's Series use from a teammate on the club from that year.

Picked up this new Ed Hearn bat with a very strange tape job. (never seen anything like it on a Hearn gamer)

Definitely one of mine. The "built up taping job" on the bottom was to accentuate the C271 taper & the the top tape is hold a foam pad at the point where my R hand grip the bat between the thumb & index finger...this was done because at the time, I must of had a bruised (sore) right hand from getting jammed real bad. I only put that foam pad there when that top hand was sore, But definitely the real thing!

Just picked up a game worn Villanova jersey to add to my Big 5 basketball collection. The workmanship involved to make this jersey is just amazing. The outer material is mesh while the inside of the jersey is lined. EVERYTHING is sewn onto the jersey including the side trim which consists of individual panels sewn together to make-up the trim feature of the jersey. The "V" in the neck area is NOT a patch but a direct embroidery onto a piece of matching mesh material which was then sewn onto the jersey.

According to the Nike label, the white Parts are 100% Polyester and the colored parts are 100% nylon.

Picked up this Yadier Molina road batting helmet tonight at the Cardinals Authentics shop. Shows great use. Also almost got the home run ball hit by Milton Bradley. The person that caught it threw it back on the field and then it ended up with the third base coach and he threw it into the crowd. If it wasn't for the guy next to me I would have had it. It actually bent my fingernail back. Some woman sitting a couple rows in front of us that looked like she couldn't care less ended up with it.

Too bad about the Bradley home run, but it happens. Back in 1996, I was three seats away from a Trinidad Hubbard home run that sailed into the back row of the old Family Section at Wrigley Field. Never got near it, though, because Ralph...an old guy who hung out at the ballpark and was generally clueless, blocked me out as he watched as it hit the back fence, bounded off the cement aisle and went back on the field. The only way I could've gotten a chance at it would have been to run him over...something SOME Wrigley ballhawks wouldn't give a second thought to doing but was not my way of doing things. The final blow: Cubs LF Luis Gonzalez, aware it was a visitors home run and also aware of the ludicrous practice of throwing it back, tossed it into the Cubs bullpen. I was pals with Ralph, still am, but I was giving him grief about costing me a home run 5 years later.;)

I just picked up a very nice football from the 1975 Orange Bowl. Below is part of an email I received from the prior owner explaining it's provenance. NOTE the tiny "A" hand-written on the football's laces.

I obtained the ball from my uncle who was a major contributor to the University of Notre Dame. He has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to the University and he had the same seats Knute Rockne had at all the football games. Apparently, the University had brass name plates engraved and affixed to their seats. My uncle once donated his old house in South Bend to the Notre Dame historical society. He got the ball after the '75 Orange bowl from the Alumni association to show thier appreciation for all his financial contributions. before he passed, he gave me the ball.

That's funny. My favorite ball story would have to be from the 2006 NLCS. A foul pop up was hit towards us and of course everyone around us was standing except for my dad. He had just sat down with some nachos and was eating them when the ball came down and hit him in the chest and fell into his nachos.

Figured I'd share a couple of my Justin Smoak pickups over the last month:

2007 USA baseball Game Worn Grey Jersey - Was signed by Smoak on the number one.

2009 USA baseball Game Worn White Jersey - This one is my favorite of the two. Smoak wore this during the '09 World Cup where he was named MVP of the tournament. It has some very distinct dirt marks and some sort of brown mark on the back of the jersey. Holo'd by USA baseball with cert.

Game used Smoak bat Mother's Day - Picked this up when MLB was auctioning them off. For a bat that was used only once, it has some great marks on the barrel, as well pine tar and Smoak's number written on the butt end of the bat.

Always looking for more Smoak items if you know or have anything you'd be willing to part with :D

I was apologizing for buying it outside the promotion that GUU and Steiner are running to avoid losing out on it. Five grand is a steal. I have rarely seen home jerseys on the market outside of the opening day 2008 one that he did not pitch during the game in question. All I have seen are road jerseys for the most part and with the Yankees the mystique is in the pinstripes and yet the road jerseys still sell between 4 and 6 grand on the secondary market. Yes it was not used in a "milestone" but it was worn in at least one game he pitched AND got a save during. As far as it only being used in a handful of games at best, NFL jerseys used in one half of one regular season game have gone for 10 grand plus i.e. Farve. MO is the key to five World Series titles and counting and by far the greatest closer ever so I am happy with my purchase.

This was an unexpected find that popped on my radar right before the NFL Meeting/vacation in Vegas.

I have not determined the year yet but this is a game worn Houston Oilers away jersey, worn by former University of Nebraska wide receiver &3rd round draft pick Tim Smith. He played his entire NFL career for the Oilers from 1980-1986. Smith gained 1,000 yards receiving in both 1983 & 1984.

Just got this one today...from Mother's Day 2010...was not used in the game by Jeter--based on the video, that bat showed a few ball marks from BP as he did not make contact in his only at bat with a pink bat. This bat was prepped with mota/tar and shows rack marks from being in the bat rack. Nice signature from Jeter as well!

Finally got some 2010 Miguel Cabrera stuff in. Hope he can nail down MVP.

1. 2010 game used jersey 6/15 with nice photo match and dirt stains, gotta love a jersey taken right off the field.

2. 2010 craked bat used to get a single in the 6th inning on 5/15. Bat has a ton of red tar and ball marks.

Two John Taylor shirts both from 1994. The first is his SB practice shirt that he wore in practice the week before the SB. It has a 49ers team letter and i have had this shirt for almost 15 years but it is finally AUTOGRAPHED!

The second is his 1994 away throwback used against the Lions with team letter. I have to thank KM from NJ for this gem. He got his price and i got my long sought after 94 JT! Thanks much Kevin.

i had a really nice 1993 JT with team letter but sold it around 12 years ago and have been looking to buy it back ever since. Big $$$$$$$$$ paid for any 49ers shirts.

I just picked up Team USA jerseys #40-43 for my collection.

The first I have been looking for for quite some time, a 1987-88 with the Plymouth sponsor patch. I date this one to 1987 due to the unusually high location.
White and blue alternate from 2008 with the USA Baseball 30th anniversary patch.
My first white cool base, most likely from 2009.
1994 jersey of former San Francisco Giant Brian Dallimore with the Nations Bank patch.
