On Taubes site. Rose 77-79 model bat with nice use. But somebody painted a picture of Rose onto the bat?? In a Phillies uniform. So is it a Phillies bat from 1979? Anyway, I don't think I'd pay half of that because of that picture. What do you guys think?

Absolutely not. It would not increase the appeal or the price in my opinion. Otherwise it looks like a very nice rose bat!

I always wondered, does Taube work with prices on his website or is it pretty much firm at where the prices are?

The bat has nice use too unfortunately.

Hoosier bats had engraved photos of players faces on some of the bats produced years ago (Glavine and Alomar come to mind). However in that case it was done by the bat company and meant to be part of the bat.

Wonder if someone would buy it and attempt to remove the portrait.

Taube can be flexible, but it all depends on wether or not the bat you are interested in is a consignment bat or a bat he owns.

Great use on the bat, but the painted Rose turns me off.

The picture ruins a very nice bat. Part of having a gu item imo is having it exactely as it was when it came off the field.

So does that bat deserve a psa 10 grade-it's been graded a 10-or is it flawed with a painted picture on it? I personally don't think it can warrant a 10 with a picture painted on.

Zane has some for sale with portraits too. I gotta think the people who like this would be a small percentage of GU collectors. Not sure why anyone do that to a game used bat.

In the description it mentions that the bat was previously graded a 10, so I'm guessing the picture was not painted when the bat was graded.

I don't know about that. I think it was graded by Taube previously and then resubmitted to Taube later to sell.

This was my take on it as well.
