I have this Rawlings Pitching Rubber with 19 HOF pitcher and Doc Gooden signatures on it. Is it a Major League Pitching Rubber and could it be game used? Any idea where it could have been when signed? I got it off Ebay a few years ago mailed from New Jersey. Thanks D.

Dynarl,

This is definitely a retail/readily available pitching rubber used in youth leagues/etc. Official pitching rubbers are generally 24" x 6" x 6" and these days are hollowed out usually with PVC in the center to reduce the weight. The 1" thick version (as the pictured item appears to be) will generally have 3 or 4 nuts on the underside where spikes could be screwed in and the mound could then be set into the ground temporarily and then easily removed after the game or practice, if desired. Links to an example of each appear below.

While it was likely signed over a period of time, the project was started prior to Don Drysdale's death in July, 1993.
