Hi Group

I pick up an H&B bat end of the knob is marked S2.It measures 34" long and has Deal on the barrel. Does anyone have Cot Deal's bat records? I think it is from the 1954 season when he played for St. Louis

Hi Jason - unfortunately we do not have Cot Deal's shipping records. If you would like me to look at pics of the bat, I would be more than happy to. Please e-mail at jcaravello@nc.rr.com with any questions. Thanks, Jim

Jason - can you send me a pic showing the lower half of the lower centerbrand label to see the writing below the oval? Thanks, Jim - jcaravello@nc.rr.com

There is no writing on this bat on the lower part of the oval. Could this be a bat from the 1965-1968 era? Could this possibly be a coach's bat? Cot seems to think it's his. I have sent him pictures.

Hi Jason - yes, it appears to be a 65-68 H&B. As you know, Deal's last season in the bigs was 1954. Charlie, Lindsay and Snake Deal all retired before even Cot did. Without having the records, its hard to say that this is a bat he ordered after his paying career. It could very well be another Deal who played in the minor leagues or in semi-pro ball. If you know Cot, I would find out if ( 1 ) he had a contract with Louisville and were his bats that he received during his playing days block letter or signature models and ( 2 ) find out if he requested bats be produced from Louisville Slugger during this time period and ( 3 ) find out what model numbers, lengths and weights he ordered when he was playing.

Another possibility is that another player ordered Cot's model with DEAL on the barrel during the 65-68 period - but that is HIGHLY unlikely.

Let me know what you find out. Thanks, Jim

I believe this is a coaches bat. Cot has told me he was the pitching coach with the 45's. I believe it is from this time.
